As the weather starts to warm up, motorcycle season is just around the corner! In this Scenic Monthly, we have news for all you riders looking to create unforgettable experiences on the road and in the dirt this year.
Scenic has big plans underway. You’ll find some of what’s in store below, but we have some surprises up our sleeve too. The core of it all remains the same: we’re dedicated to helping you prepare, navigate, track, share, and enjoy your rides. Whether that’s a quick round trip to clear your mind, a multi-day adventure, or the ride of your dreams.

CONTROL SCENIC FROM YOUR HANDLEBAR
Motive Monkey is a universal remote control for motorbikes, specially configured for Scenic. It attaches to the left-hand side of your handlebar so that your thumb can quickly press the four buttons. You can use these buttons to control Scenic for functions like zooming in or out, moving through the Scenic Navigation menu, starting/pausing music, etc.
Motive Monkey fits on just about all motorcycle handlebars. Check out the video to see the Motive Monkey in action!
Bart, a Scenic user from the Netherlands, is the creator of Motive Monkey. He contacted me a while back, and after trying some prototypes with a few people, I can attest that it works really well.
If you’re interested in Motive Monkey, please follow this link to a survey. The survey contains questions that will help Bart decide on the final product design and production method. It also contains a link to a draft website containing technical information, sizes, prices, etc.
To serve our community, Bart will make some pre-production units available at a reduced price. You can order a pre-production unit at the end of the survey. Only 20 pre-production units are available, so first come, first served.

SCENIC ON SOCIAL MEDIA
Scenic hasn’t been very active on social media in the last year. I’m planning to change that.
From now on, expect regular posts about what we’re working on, some ‘behind the scenes’ looks, and other Scenic related things. We’ve even created a Scenic Mastodon account for the Twitter quitters amongst us.
If you’re not already following Scenic, at the bottom of this email you can find the links to the Scenic Social Channels.

TUTORIAL VIDEOS
In the past year, we released two tutorial videos: this 10-minute ‘get to know Scenic’ video: a quick tour of all of Scenic’s screens and features. And the Power Planner tutorial, which shows all the things the Power Planner can do. To see that video tap the top-left ⓘ button in the Power Planner.
We’ll add more tutorial videos as we’re finishing up the big update (more on that below).

THE BIG UPDATE
Over the fall and winter we’ve been working on a big update. We wouldn’t call it Scenic 4.0, but definitely Scenic 3.5.
The update switches Scenic to the new HERE map framework, which opens the door to new features like the highly requested safety camera alerts (check out our socials channels for a sneak peek on that), lane assist, traffic, and lots more. They won’t all be in there from the start, but over time we’ll be adding more features.
The big update also introduces a beta feature to help you create beautiful routes based on street view images processed by artificial intelligence and machine learning. Keep an eye on our socials channels to get the latest news on that.
When, you ask? In Spring. Sorry we can’t be more precise at this moment.

SCENIC ANDROID
Scenic Android development has been a thorn in our side for quite some time. Years in fact, as some of you long-time users and readers might know. So, we understand the disappointment about the continued delays, but trust us; no one is more eager to get Scenic Android out there ASAP.
In the last year, we’ve taken steps to speed up the development, which is now progressing steadily, and with good quality.
At this moment, we want to share this short clip, where you can see Scenic Android in action during a basic navigation session.
To avoid further disappointment, we won’t give out dates anymore. Instead, as we reach more milestones in the Android development, you’ll read about it in this newsletter and on our social channels.
