What do you do when the police pulls you over when you’re in the wrong? Pull over? Speed away… or set your bike on fire.
Vietnamese Nguyen Duy Thanh, 23, was riding his motorbike in a suburb of Ho-Chi-Min City when he was stopped by the local Covid-19 taskforce. Unable to show a permit to be outside during a social distancing order and failing to show the registration papers of his motorcycle, Thanh quickly lit up his bike.
“Everything happened so quickly that we couldn’t stop him,” said a member of the Covid-19 taskforce at the time.
The bike burned down completely, and the man was tested for COVID-19 and taken into custody by local police.
Next time you’re S.O.L. (Shit out of luck) keep a lighter on hand.
