Scenic for Android: Where We Are Now

By Guido · March 2026

If you’ve been waiting for Scenic on Android, the wait is over. Since December, Scenic for Android has been available as an open beta on the Google Play Store and right now, every single Premium feature is completely free to use until the end of April 2026.

That’s worth saying again: everything. Free. Go ride.

We’ve had hundreds of you testing it since launch, reporting bugs, and sending feedback. That feedback has directly shaped the updates we’ve been pushing. Each release fixes things, adds things, and gets Android closer to parity with iOS. Most recently, we added WebApp import — something many of you had been waiting on. It’s in there now.

We’re going to be honest about where things stand, because you deserve to know what you’re working with. So here’s a full picture of what’s still in development and when you can expect it.

What’s still missing, and when it’s coming

Android Auto ETA: April/May

This is the big one. Android Auto integration isn’t there yet, and we know it’s a priority for a lot of you. We also know that our major competitors haven’t cracked it yet. Well, we’re nearer than they are is all we can say! This is our top priority and is in active development. Our best current estimate is April, possibly May. We’ll let you know as soon as it’s live.

Route import via WebApp, Furkot, and RouteYou ETA: March

Direct import through the Scenic WebApp and from third-party route platforms Furkot and RouteYou isn’t supported yet on Android. In the meantime, you can import GPX files by opening them from another app, Google Drive, for example – directly into Scenic. That workaround covers most scenarios. The full import solution is close, and we’re expecting it this month.

Satellite maps — No date yet

Satellite maps are on the list and we’re working on them. No fixed date, but they will be coming. If you’re someone who plans routes visually against terrain, we get it — this matters. It’s on our radar.

Route Discovery — No date yet

One of Scenic’s most popular features on iOS — browsing and discovering routes shared and rated by other riders in your area. This isn’t available on Android yet. The database is there. The community is there. We just need to bring the interface across properly. No date yet, but it’s not being ignored.

Map Layers — No date yet

Right now you can’t display your pre-saved routes, recorded rides, saved locations, or POIs as a layer over the map. This is a meaningful gap, especially if you’re a heavy planner. It’s in development. We’re working around the clock to get it in front of you as soon as possible.

Custom Map Styles — No date yet

The ability to create and apply your own custom map styles isn’t available on Android yet. No date, but it’s on the list.

For the full and always up-to-date breakdown, you can check the Android missing features page.

What this means for you

Most of what makes Scenic, Scenic, is already on Android.

Turn-by-turn navigation, curvy routing, offline maps, ride tracking, GPX import, route planning, glove-friendly design –  it’s all there. The missing features above are real gaps, and we’re not going to dress that up. But the foundation is solid, and the app is getting meaningfully better with every update.

If you’ve got friends with Android phones who’ve been waiting to try Scenic, this is the moment to tell them. They get the full experience — Premium included — for free, for as long as the beta runs.

At the end of April, Scenic Premium on Android moves to standard pricing, so grab the extended trial while you can. Between now and then, there’s no better time to get in.

We’re building quickly. We’re listening. And we appreciate every piece of feedback that’s come in since December. This is your app, and your feedback genuinely makes us better.

More updates coming soon.
