Save Current Coordinates Button
Quote from RobTiger on 18.05.2026, 13:43There's been some discussion on this before - early GPS devices did this easily (they were called waypoints), so I'm hoping it can be easily done in a capable app like Scenic.
While riding and/or following a route, I want a button on the screen I can touch once and save the current coordinates to... somewhere, anywhere. A text file, a folder, the current route folder.
This way, as I'm riding I can one-touch when I pass something interesting, then use Google Maps or whatever later to look it up and create a proper Location.
I recently completed a 1000-mile ride and would have used this feature a lot to be able to re-find interesting things along the way.

Quote from Guido on 18.05.2026, 13:59@robtiger. Yes... this is on the feature request list, but will have to wait a bit as there are other higher priorities at the moment.
@laszlok. You can already report this directly to OpenStreetMap: https://scenic.app/help/reporting-map-errors/ But I realize this is not as easy as doing it "on the fly" as you are riding. A button to report this automatically to OpenStreetMap, while riding, will require building an integration directly with the OpenStreetMap database. It's possible (everything is possible 🙂), but implementing that requires more time and effort. I'll add it to the list as well.

Quote from LaszloK on 18.05.2026, 14:06@guidomm : no need to report this automatically to openstreetmap. Its only to save the location, so that i can combine the location with the fault in my brain and then do the correction with the App „Go Map!!“

@robtiger - There are some iphone guys who are using a "shortcuts" workaround, dropping current coordinates into a Notes document . Others have tried snapping photos, utilizing Scenic's ability to add a photo location pin on the fly. These options may be a bit cumbersome in use, perhaps, compared to whatever a built-in feature might eventually entail, but might work for you?
There's two threads which I've found useful, take a look:
