Ability to use Power Planner on Computer and download new route to Scenic App
Quote from Triker1950 on 25.01.2022, 10:03As a newbie to Scenic perhaps I have overlooked this ability, but I could not find it on the website anywhere. As an iOS user I have both an iPhone as well as an iPad and have set up Scenic on both devices. I have created my first route in Scenic using the Power Planner and it seems pretty straightforward. However in doing this there was a lot of zooming in/out in order to place the Via points in exactly the right spot on the roads etc. And in the case of the iPhone the screen is small. So this can be very tedious to accomplish.
As I said perhaps I have missed it somewhere on the website or perhaps a previous request in the Forum, but it would sure be nice if the Power Planner was available on the website where we could create a route on a PC with a large screen to assist in the route planning. And then transfer that saved route to the iPhone for eventual navigation.
Thanks Guido for all your efforts. I'm excited to take my first ride using Scenic once the weather warms up a bit more. Although just finished a group Polar Bear ride where the starting temperature was 20 degrees Fahrenheit 😎

Adding a Route Planner to the WebApp is on the list, but it's going to take a while. Meanwhile, Scenic does work together with quite some online planning tools, like Kurviger, Furkot and even Google Maps. You can create your route there and import it into Scenic. Here's more info on that: https://scenic.app/help/ways-sources-to-import/

Quote from Triker1950 on 26.01.2022, 10:26Thanks Guido for the pointer to Scenic's powerful import capabilities. I have created routes previously in Google My Maps and I have imported one of those to Scenic. It is very straight forward and easy to do. From your link above I was excited to find that it is fairly easy to import a file from motorcycleroads.com into Scenic! I have visited that site frequently and now I'm looking ahead to riding some of the awesome routes in my area this summer.
Here's what I was hoping to see in the future. I totally appreciate the Power Planners Routing Button capability to quickly switch Point A to Point B for Fast Curvy, Curvy and Extra Curvy options. One selection and Boom!, you have a completely new route. To accomplish that with Google My Maps would require tedious placing many "Via" points and Scenic does all that for you. Love it. It's one of the main features that attracted me to Scenic. Just saying it would be nice if the Power Planner was on a PC then you could click and drag Via points to adjust the route on a larger screen.
Thanks for your efforts!! I'm loving what I've seen so far and excited to put Scenic through its paces as the weather warms up.

Quote from Binwaa on 25.03.2022, 02:21I’m just using my iPad to prepare routes, and as Scenic is syncing automatically, the route is on my iPhone ready to go.
Preparing a route on the iPad is much more easy than on iPhone.

Quote from PeteRT on 27.03.2022, 05:36Using a large screen iPad for planning must be nice. For me a web planner would be a real bonus for the ability for anyone to plan on a larger screen on any platform. I have tried all the supported planners and Google Maps. All work to a degree but you have to check very carefully for any route discrepancies. This is where a dedicated web planner using the same maps and routing algorithms as the app wins. However I guess Guido has more pressing things to do first. Web Planner would be great but not that important.

Quote from rocminc99al on 27.03.2022, 11:53Just for kicks, I've created a route to a restaurant 2.6 miles from my house that opened 2 years ago using several apps.
Harley-Davidson Route Planner (HERE maps) - couldn't find the restaurant
Tomtom MyDrive (Tomtom maps) - couldn't find the restaurant
Google maps - found the restaurant, but created a route a local would never take
Kurviger - I couldn't figure out how to search for a POI or address in this app. Gave up.
Apple maps, Scenic - found a restaurant, created a perfect routeA native Scenic web planner would be nice.
I do remember creating routes in MS Streets & Trips and then "walking" each route on my TomTom GPS just to make sure all waypoints were placed properly. Otherwise, one or two "U-turns" were guaranteed.

Quote from BiKenG on 06.07.2022, 04:29Can Scenic sync between v3 and v2?
So if I created a route in v3 on the iPad, would that sync to v2 on an iPhone?
In fact, what options do I have for creating on a large screen, routes that I can sync to and use on an iPhone 5s that is limited to v2?

Quote from Guido on 06.07.2022, 04:34Yes, all your data syncs but routes might become different because map data and routing algorithms are different between the versions. More info on that here: https://scenic.app/help/scenic-3-info/
You can use any online planner that support GPS export. Or Google maps. There are some that integrate nicely with Scenic as well. Here is more info on that: https://scenic.app/help/ways-sources-to-import/
