Whether you’re planning an epic multi-week off-road motorbike adventure or a brief weekend escape, Scenic can offer you extensive support.

You can use Scenic to setup a route folder and create as many route options as you want. You can also clearly see dirt road stretches with Dirt Road Visualisation. Wherever you choose to go, you can always get inspired by the Public Routes Database where other riders have shared their journeys.

Or if you have a route you like on Basecamp, or a Google Maps URL, a GPX, KML, KMZ, GDB, or ITN, it’s all easily uploaded into your Scenic app to play with further route customization.

For remote areas with no internet, Scenic provides Offline Mode. The GPS tracking will kick in with offline navigation.

The app can also help you scout out landmarks along your route with Google Search integration. An inability to read or write in a different language will not prevent you from reaching the campgrounds, tourist sites, or gas station!

The route will still be customizable with our features and filters, such as ‘Fast Curvy’ for railing corners on your way to the trail. You can avoid highways, tolls and more with our route filter.

It’s all possible, and it’s all in the app keeping your trip smooth and fun.

Kit Out Your Motorbike

Being equipped for your journey appropriately will help prevent breakdowns, accidents or getting stranded.

You’ll want your motorbike in top condition. Check tires have the correct tread, and inflated to the factory’s recommendation. Likewise check lights, mirrors, signals, brakes, and fluids. Depending on how off-road your adventure is you might want to equip your bike with the right off-road tires, and some skid plates.

Pack the Essentials

When preparing for your journey, it’s crucial to pack the right gear. But aim to travel light. Sharing equipment can help lighten the load. It’s helpful to make an adventure gear checklist:

  • Safety Gear: First aid kit, and emergency toolkit.
  • Recovery Gear: Battery jumper, and a folding shovel.
  • Camping Gear: Tent, sleeping bag, extra straps, and zip-ties.

Personal Items: Clothing suited for the weather, sunscreen, and insect repellent.

Plan Your Daily Itinerary

Scenic supports you to identify the best routes, re-route around unexpected roadblocks, and enjoy scenic stops. Think about breaking your route into manageable daily segments, mark key points of interest—like breathtaking viewpoints, convenient rest areas, and essential fuel points.

Elevation changes can be a big deal, especially at higher altitudes where it gets chillier. Scenic can show you these changes before you encounter them, helping you prepare for temperature drops and ensuring a comfortable ride.

It’s always smart to have a backup plan, too. With Scenic, you can easily save alternate routes right in the same route folder. Just pick the route that suits the day’s needs, and you’re good to go.

Stay Connected and Informed

Weather conditions can change rapidly. Check traffic and weather forecasts for your route, so that you wear appropriate gear and the bike can be set up correctly.  Maybe reach out to local off-road clubs or forums for current trail conditions.

Hit the Trail

Pacing yourself in unknown terrain saves energy for the end of the day where you can push yourself.

Starting early on some days gives you a chance to rest during the hottest hours.  Plus you’ll have more time for scenic routes and to address any unexpected issues that pop up.

When you hit a trail you’re eager to explore Scenic’s Round Trip Generation can plot a circular route for you instantly.

Your visor could fog up as you get much hotter scrambling those dirt roads, so keep some eye protection handy so you can raise your visor for air. You’re also going to want well ventilated clothing. You’re more likely to bail from the bike on slow tough terrain so motocross type boots are best: crush proof with super solid soles.

Don’t forget to soak in the scenery. You can add photos in-app to document your journey. By tagging your posts on Instagram with #ridewithscenic, you can share your bike adventures with our community as well.

Scenic’s ride recording feature lets you track your location, speed and distance. So you can reflect and improve.

When you’re back on the roads, Scenic gives safety camera alerts for speed and red-light cameras, keeping you out of trouble. And if your bike is equipped with Apple CarPlay, you can enjoy Scenic on your built-in screen.

Ready to hit the trails and explore the great outdoors?

You can trust in your preparation, adapt to the unexpected, and make the most of every moment with Scenic.

Your ultimate off-road motorbike adventure starts today.

I’d love a “prefer dirt roads” option, especially if there was some way (i’ve been trying to design this in my head for ages) to set a number representing how far you’re willing to go out of your way to get from A to B on as many dirt roads as possible.

I agree with John an off road option should form part of the motorbike algorithm

I was looking for a safe way to visit Chernobyl and came across https://chernobyltour.co.uk/. I liked that you can choose a tour based on time and theme, and the guides provide comprehensive explanations about the accident and life after the disaster. It was especially important to me that everything was legal and safe, and that transport and equipment were provided by the organisers directly from London. Now I am sure that the tour will be interesting and informative.
