with CarPlay - using the phone screen too...
Quote from pleasantone on 08.06.2026, 10:16Guido, first off, thanks for all the tips on route planning. I've moved the majority of my planning to furkot and love it.
Context: I often lead group rides with my friends, mostly sport touring in Central and Northern California, lots of backroads and goat trails. If something goes "wrong" like I miss a turn or we have a closure, I would like to be able to react quickly. I have my CarPlay unit on the dash above, but I also have my phone on my handlebars in a charging mount with vibration damping (so nobody yells at me). When I fire up Scenic as the active app on the phone, I just get the CarPlay active screen.
How difficult would it be to use the Phone screen as well, similar to Waze and Apple Maps when dual-screens are available?
I would *love* to get the turn by turn run-log that you provide in single screen mode.
I would *love* to be able to see the map at a different zoom level on the phone (without having to hit a bunch of buttons) while the CarPlay unit is showing the normal zoom map.
Placing buttons on the phone (for me) is less awkward than reaching up to hit buttons on the CarPlay device. I run with do-not-recalculate mode (because recalculations are often more painful than not), but having buttons for "recalculate to next via" and/or "skip next via" on the phone would be nice (I know, a niche request).
I know this is useless for folks who keep their phone in their pocket when using CarPlay but for those of us who have both screens available, it would be so nice. Right now, for multi-day rides, I keep my old Garmin on the bars with the track on it and zoomed out, but my bike looks more like a video game than a motorcycle and it's gross.
Again, thank you for such a fantastic product, I am so happy to use Scenic, nothing else comes close to solving my needs. I got into using it because I wanted to be able to plan and replan my trips on the go without lugging around a laptop for Basecamp, and initially I did everything in Scenic. and now Scenic+Furkot is the perfect solution.

Most motorcycle riders only use once screen. When using CarPlay, their phone is in their pocket or tank bag. So this is only for a smaller subset of our users. Hence the lower priority.
