Start and end points in a route

When I want to create a new route, I first of all create Locations for the start and finish places (or I re-use existing ones.) I have a Location for a spot a few hundred meters from my home, for example, and another for the Cadwell Park race circuit, an hour away.

I usually start by tapping Plan, then find the local near home Location and adding it as the Start. Then I do the same for the finish. I make any route adjustments I want and then save.

Scenic doesn’t seem to re-use the Locations, though. In this example, when I ride to Cadwell Park & am nearby, Scenic tells me I’m reaching the end of my route with a chequered flag symbol. It doesn’t seem to get that for me, I’m not so much at the “end of route” but arriving at Location “Cadwell Park”. Is my distinction clear? I know when I get to Cadwell, but for many routes (especially abroad) I won’t recognise the end point except that I can see the route ending. Plus if I export the route as a GPX, the file includes two waypoints: Route Start and Route End, not “near home” and “Cadwell Park” as the Scenic Locations are named.

Or am I making some colossal user error?

If I understand you correctly you are talking about the name that Scenic gives to the start and end point. You'd like it to stay the name of the location you selected, but in stead, Scenic is ignoring those name and simply naming it Route Start and Route End. If so, then yes, you are correct that this is happening. At the moment, these names are hardcoded and the names are not copied from the locations.
It is on the list to change this though, but will be a little while before I have time for that.

If you're enjoying Scenic and are happy with the support, please leave a nice rating in the App Store. It would mean a lot to me ❤️
