Split route/track into multiple routs/tracks
Quote from windingroad38 on 12.01.2025, 09:15Hi,
Referring to this feature request: https://scenic.app/forum/topic/combining-multiple-scenic-tracks/ I wanted to add a FR just the other way round: Splitting a route/track into multiple routes/tracks.
When I do a multi day planning, first I plan a routing for the whole trip to see if everything fits into it. Lets say I want to go 200km per day, then the whole 5-day trip should be in the 1000km range. I call this the planning stage. Afterwards, when it comes to navigation, I would like to have the possibility to set split points manually and then let scenic split the whole route and save them each with a custom file pattern. Workaround is to make a copy of the route and delete all unwanted stops and vias and move the destination flag accordingly, for every single planned day of the routing.
There might be more ideas for the split options like "split every ...km" or "split the whole into even parts" or split by "whatever makes sense here". For me, a manual split point would be sufficient.

What you are doing now (creating a big route, and then making copies for each day) is what I've been recommending so far. I'm asuming that when you create the copies, there is already a stop or via point where you want the route to split. E.g. the hotel or camp ground you are spending the night. If so... then... what you'd like to see is a way to automate the whole process of creating copies and then removing unwanted parts of the route for respective copies, correct?

Yes, correct. I mean, in my case its more or less one event per year where this really comes into effect, so honestly I could live with the workaround. So it is maybe a question of, is it worth to spend the work on it...
