Scenic running without an Iphone on Carpuride W702 Plus?

Hi Guido,

Currently I'm using Scenic on my Iphone with a RAM mount, but I notice that my Iphone gets overheated sometimes. Therefore I'm looking for a Carplay system for my bike.

I saw your Carpuride W702 Review in the Scenic app and also the comments on that review. I thought I would be easier to open a topic on the forum for this matter, since I think a lot of people have this problem.

I have the same question as Andrew: Carpuride has a new model: the Carpuride W702 Plus. Capuride writes on their website about this product:

Breakthrough Features:

    • App Installation Support: First Carpuride motorcycle stereo that allows you to install third-party apps directly on the device
    • Built-in GPS Module: Independent GPS for accurate navigation without phone dependency
    • Advanced Customization: Customize your riding experience with offline maps, weather apps, music players, and more

I have 2 questions about their claim:

  1. Does this mean that you can run Scenic on the Carpuride itself and that you don't need a (I-)phone anymore?
This would be an excellent feature because the battery of my Iphone would not be drained by Bluetooth sending Scenic to the Carpuride.
  2. Does this also mean that offline maps can be loaded on the Carpuride itself?
That would also be handy because I also drive offroad in remote areas without mobile signal.

I hope you can get in touch with Carpuride of even better they give/borrow you a W702 Plus to test it yourself.

Looking forward to your answer.

Yes on both questions. Used like that it’s basically a rugged Android tablet so you can install the Scenic Android version on there.

If you're enjoying Scenic and are happy with the support, please leave a nice rating in the App Store. It would mean a lot to me ❤️

Guido,

Thanks for your swift answer!

After I posted this topic, I have been thinking. If you want features that need internet (like speedcamera warnings, or changing your route) or use apps that need internet, you still need to connect your phone via Bluetooth. This limits the advantage of the 702 Plus for me (besides the fact that the 702 Plus doesn't have a USB charging possibility).
