Scenic OSM maps
Quote from MarcoZ on 22.06.2026, 06:12Is it possible to download the OpenStreetMap maps used by Scenic? I would like to install them in my BaseCamp application, which I use to plan my motorcycle trips—an application where I create tracks, routes, and waypoints. This way, I can ensure that the route is identical by using the same maps.
This, of course, would apply as long as Scenic does not provide its own web-based system for creating tracks, routes, and managing waypoints.
Will there ever be a beta release of such a service?

Quote from DRTBYK on 22.06.2026, 09:48@marcoz - Guido is working on a Web-based "Planner" which he has said will be available 3Q or 4Q. There are a number of places online where you can download OSM maps that will install in BaseCamp. The only thing that might be different between the OSM maps used by Scenic and one's you might install in BC is that the person who compiled them for BC might have left out some data to reduce file size. That should not create much of an issue in moving your GPX data between BC and Scenic if you are Exporting/Importing GPX Tracks. GPX Routes are a crap-shoot for any exchange.

Individual countries or smaller groups are free to download.
Large blocks like Western Europe require a moderate payment.
Also elevation data is included.
Getting Western Europe in one map was the reason to turn to this source.

Hi Marco,
I do use OSM maps for many years and used them already with my Garmin and therfore in MapSource and Basecamp. You get free downloads ready for a Basecamp. I am not sure if its exactely what Guido is using, but as far as I know, there is only one OSM basis…..it should be the same.

Sorry its mainly German.
