Route takes shortest route after mistake

Quote from Bangkok on 27.07.2022, 12:31Hi Guido,
Today I made a quick route with my phone in scenic and started it.
After a couple of km I made a mistake and had to turn. From that moment the route changed and wanted to direct me the shortest route to the end point.
So I closed the route and started it again and then it continues the route.
After another mistake the same thing happend.
How can I solve this?

Quote from Guido on 27.07.2022, 16:13This depends on your route. Specifically how many via points it has, and your detour behaviour settings. The descriptions in Settings > Navigation & Tracking > Detour Behaviour, should give you more information. If you have questions after that, please let me know.

there were not many via points.
any idea what I should change?

Quote from Guido on 28.07.2022, 08:07I’d have to see the route to be sure, and the point where you deviated from the route. Typically this is caused by the auto-skip via points settings.
Auto-skip via points is a tricky setting. To be honest, for almost all situations I recommend to leave this to OFF, as it can change your route dramatically when you detour. This is because it removes all via points in the radius of your skip distance (15km in your case) with the point where you detoured as the center, and then recalculated the route without these points, potentially leading to the route taking completely different roads.
What I recommend is to turn 'Auto-Skip' via points OFF, and then, if need be, manually skip a via point through the 'Skip Via/Stop' button in the navigation menu. See this earlier post of mine for a bit more info and a screenshot: https://scenic.app/forum/topic/reroute-at-detour-not-working/#postid-3587
Cheers,
