Question about the loop hike

I have two questions:
1. Why is a stopover always automatically created when I create a loop route?
2. Why do two detours keep appearing that then lead back to the route?
I can handle this because I check every loop route and delete those detours. I'd just like to understand why this happens.

- Scenic chooses a turn-around point (that's your stop)
- Then Scenic chooses 2 more points that will roughly form a circle (or diamond shape if you will) with the stop and your current location.
- Then Scenic calculates a route between those 4 points. Depending on the routing mode and the roads where the points were placed on, this can sometimes result in these detours.
