Optimizing Voice Navigation and Rerouting
Quote from Nicclaussen on 01.11.2021, 15:17While the look and feel of the new version is good, there are several major issues I’m having
1.) Unnecessary “go straight” directions
2.) Not enough actual left or right directions. Many times I’m left to guess.
3.) Voice is not timely enough leaving me to attempt to change lanes quickly, or the voice reroutes in an intersection
4.) Rerouting is not intuitive or efficient. Too many “In 1 mile turn left…”followed by “make a u turn now”
I love this app and have logged a lot of miles, but as it currently is, it is not useful to me.

I'll look into these issue, but I have to admit that points 1 and 2 are not very recognizable to me and it's the first time I'm hearing this so far. Would you mind sharing the route where you experienced these issues? Select route from your list and use the "share" button below the route preview.
Point 3 I will have a closer look at
Point 4. Are you referring to the voice instructions after a rerouting, or the route itself?
Best regards,
Guido

Here is the link you requested:https://scenicapp.space/route/hXyFkMNeVery often at a left or right turn, there was no voice command indicating the correct way.As for rerouting and deviations, the program always wanted to take me back to the point of deviation despite being nearer to my next way point. I experienced this first during a construction detour and second when near the end of the ride, it wanted me to go back to the deviation and wouldn’t route me to the next way point as my settings are asking it to do.Thanks for your help with this - I really do love this appNick

Quote from Guido on 01.11.2021, 16:27Thanks. I will simulate this route so I can see what you were seeing and get a better feel for this. I'll need a few days for this, but will keep you posted.
As for the detour behaviour... I think maybe the 'auto-skip-via' setting might help with this. You can find it (including detailed explanation) in Settings > Navigation & Tracking > Detour Behaviour.

I not upvotet your topic in reason, that I think the same. I upvoted it for a start of a discussion of these points:While the look and feel of the new version is good, there are several major issues I’m having
1.) Unnecessary “go straight” directions
You have to choose a diffrence between: " ... follow this street for 7 km ,,, " (for me (Southgermany) a very relaxed information). What shoud be the announcement, when the actual street turns right, your route against is going straight?
2.) Not enough actual left or right directions. Many times I’m left to guess.
I think the actual left or right directions are still to much. 1 time to pronounce it, (the rest shows the picture left above the whole time) and then shortly before deflection. (In the opposite, humans get fast used when something happens often. Will mean (I think!) that less announcments will reach more.)
3.) Voice is not timely enough leaving me to attempt to change lanes quickly, or the voice reroutes in an intersection
This app tries, so is my imagination, to be usual in many countries and for even more users. Some lives perhaps in Northern America, there a part will ride large highways in a beautiful landscape. Another part searches the small roads with less trafic and more curves? In the Rocky Mountains you will have an other characteristic of roads than in the great plains. In northern europe you will have other charcteristics than in the alpes and we saw that some need the japanese maps ... I've no imagination which characteristics this countrie have ... (And at all I've not listed I beg off)
Perhaps Guido find a solution to choose the counts of announcing? Perhaps Guido can realise a choose of last announcing in dependace of the allowable speed at the point of deflection?
4.) Rerouting is not intuitive or efficient. Too many “In 1 mile turn left…”followed by “make a u turn now”
Very good to approach this feature!
(As well "intuitive" already describes a part of the problem)
I hope that Guido can install an option like: "Go strictly to the waypoints, but when a via is ignored then go automaticly to the next via/waypoint." The personal important points can would than be marked as waypoints an the the rest is a wish to be rided - following it when no redirection happens.love this app and have logged a lot of miles, but as it currently is, it is not useful to me.
(In the background of my laptop appears a lot of answers to your topic, nearly each second! You have posted a realy imported topc!! You have started an importend discussion!! Thankyou! (As well Guidos answer can be: " ... but not tomorrow ... ") )
