Multi day trip planning

Quote from jayandrews929 on 21.06.2021, 20:56What’s the best way to plan multi day trip? Say I want to ride from Washington DC to Austin TX. If put those in as start and end points I get a message that says it too big and I need to plan shorter one day trips. But I don’t know where I want to go in between. I would like foe Scenic to map out the trip and I can go in and break it up into smaller one day trips and the save each one as a separate trip. Is that possible? What’s the best way to accomplish this? Thanks.

Quote from Guido on 21.06.2021, 21:29I recommend to plan one route per day. And then you can put those routes in a folder so you have all of them together.
you could also plan the route in Furkot. Furkot will split the route in multiple days for you if you plan an overnight somewhere. It has a bit of a steep learning curve, but if you get the hang of it, Furkot can be really powerful. And you can access your Furkot trips directly from Scenic’s import tab.
Hope this helps/explains. If not or if you have other questions please let me know. Happy to help.
Best regards and ride safe,
Guido

Quote from rocminc99al on 30.06.2021, 16:13One reason to plan separate 1-day routes is because you want each route to end on a hotel parking lot where you have a reservation. At least this is what the last 15 years of riding all over the country taught me.
Harley-Davidson Ride Planner and TomTom MyDrive are probably the easiest to master. Although they use different maps (HERE and TomTom respectively), if you put enough waypoints, the route in Scenic will look the same.

Does this also mean that Scenic will be using HERE routing algorithms?

Quote from Doppler on 22.08.2021, 08:14I just used it for an Ironbutt trip that included buying gas in the lower 48 US states in 10 days. I used Scenic to plan each day. Because of the length of each day the App still recommended that I break it up to one day. Each route consisted of a gas station in each state I was passing through, and the hotel for each night. Even though I ignored the recommendation to break it up more, the app worked flawless for the whole trip. Thats not to say that you should ignore the warning, but it worked for me. I also really like having each day tracked and saved separately in the app.
