GPX Waypoint Symbol Names
Quote from DRTBYK on 20.02.2025, 18:31I've mapped several Nav App Symbol Sets to other Nav App Symbol Sets over the years but I don't see any way to do that with Scenic since Scenic uses the OS Emoji icons or Text Characters.
My request: Provide a Symbol map between Scenic Emoji and some of the more often used GPX Symbol "Names" - e.g., Hotel = Bed Icon, Cafe/Restaurant = Knife/Fork icon, Gas(Fuel) = Fuel Pump icon, etc.
I know the Location marker icon can be edited once imported/saved but the process is quite tedious when Importing a large group of Waypoints that have meaningful Symbol Names.

Currently Scenic ignores the symbol name field in the GPX. It’s not a GPX standard field. I imagine it’s a Garmin GPX extension that provides that field? What software created the GPX?
Do you have a list of the possible names that can be used?

Quote from DRTBYK on 20.02.2025, 21:08I tried to post a PDF example of the spreadsheet I created to map Symbols between Apps. It is not all of the mappings I've done for other Nav Apps but I did apply the emoji icons for example. GPX Waypoint Symbol is a 'standard' data-type in GPX. You are correct in that there is not a standard set of text-names for a given symbol, hence the mapping I've done over the years.
