First ride with version 3.06 - please help
Quote from Rallebiker on 01.02.2022, 11:48Hello,
I drove the Scenic 3.06 for the first time.
A one-way trip from A to B.
- Start of navigation
- The screen appears
- A clear layout
- It is immediately noticeable that the route does not run centrally on the screen, but is slightly offset to the right.
Can I change this so that the route runs centrally on the screen?
- Also on the screen: speedometer, time driven, kilometres driven and the current time.
I am not interested in the time and kilometres travelled,
how can I hide them?
In the settings, the zoom is set to 'Auto',
but nothing works.
I expected the screen to zoom in on a turn or junction, but unfortunately nothing happens.
- On the way to my destination, I drove differently than Scenic shows on the screen.
Normally there should have been a recalculation of the route, but nothing happened!!!
The arrow on the screen continued to run, but no recalculation. So the software is not usable.
Maybe someone has an idea?
After the routing stopped working, I wanted to stop the navigation and pressed the big square with all the setting options and then the button 'Stop Navi'.
But unfortunately that doesn't work either, because the message 'No navigation active' appears? I do not understand.
I first had to tap on the current time where the button 'End journey' is.
Why so complicated?

Can I change this so that the route runs centrally on the screen?I assume your phone is in landscape mode? If so, this is done with a reason. On the left side more map space is covered by the ETA bar and the next turn arrow and text. That's why it's offset to the right.
- Also on the screen: speedometer, time driven, kilometres driven and the current time.
I am not interested in the time and kilometres travelled,
how can I hide them?I assume you are not a premium member? I'm asking because turn by turn and voice navigation (including displaying to distance- and time to arrival) is part of turn-by-turn navigation. If not premium you only have 'follow the line' navigation, and it will show current time and current ride duration/distance. You can hide the speedometer through Settings > Navigation & Tracking.
In the settings, the zoom is set to 'Auto',
but nothing works.
I expected the screen to zoom in on a turn or junction, but unfortunately nothing happens.Auto zoom is speed based. If you go faster, the map zooms out to a bigger area. If you go slower, the map zooms in to a smaller area.

Maybe someone has an idea?Like mentioned above, that's because you are on 'follow the line' mode. You can try out the turn-by-turn navigation (including rerouting and Detour Behaviour) by sacrificing a credit. Here's more info on the premium plan and pricing: https://scenic.app/help/scenic-3-info/

Why so complicated? The finish ride button has been removed from the Navigation Menu. Now, like you discovered, you have to tap the ETA bar. Indeed you get a message 'no navigation active' (again, that's because you were in Follow the Line mode). But, in that same screen there is a big red button 'Finish Ride' at the bottom. This hasn't changed compared to Scenic 2.
I realize that Scenic 3 is a big change from Scenic 2, and that it will take some getting used to. But in the long run, I believe this was necessary to position Scenic for the future. Especially the maps, new routing engine and the navigation are much better than Scenic 2. Take it for a spin if you have the chance and you will hopefully see what I mean. In your case this would mean sacrificing a credit to try out the turn-by-turn navigation.
I also realize that moving the turn-by-turn to the premium plan is quite a change for the ones who were using Scenic without premium. I decided to do this, because the new map provider charges me for every user that uses turn-by-turn navigation, meaning, I am paying for every user that uses turn-by-turn navigation. So financially I couldn't make it work to offer this for free anymore.
Maybe this is not the answer you were looking for, but I hope it at least explains. If you have any other questions, please let me know. Happy to help if I can.
Best regards,
Guido

Quote from Rallebiker on 01.02.2022, 15:03It is a pity.
Scenic 3 has good beginnings,
but Premium for ~23€/year or
~90€ total just to get turn by turn is just too much, especially since the maps are not even included.
As I said, it's a real pity.
For me, it's now back to the roots -
get the old Garmin, put OSM on it and read some maps again.

Thanks for giving Scenic a try and for the feedback you gave before and now. I appreciate you taking the time.
Should you ever change your mind... you are always welcome back of course.
All the best,
Guido
