Differences in Android app & questions regarding GUI items
Quote from bios4 on 07.06.2026, 02:42Hi @ all,
are there additional differences between the iOS and Android versions of the app which are not covered in the https://scenic.app/android-missing-features/ list?
I just updated to the latest Beta version today and e.g. found quite some options e.g. in "Settings" explained in the "Complete Walkthrough" video on YouTube are not available on my device.
Also e.g. the options to be set for the different zoom modes (no speed settings, manual+turn and speed+turn not available) or the option "Overview, select around my location" in settings like mentioned in https://scenic.app/forum/topic/restaurants-beim-routen/#postid-15757.
The available buttons in this "9 button menu" (what's its real name, btw?) also differ on my device...
I don't have "Battery Saver" or "Road Block" available for example. Are the "Shortcut 1" & "Shortcut 2" buttons - which just have a "X" sign on my device btw. - meant to be configured by myself?
How could this be done? Clicking on them does literally nothing. And finally in terms of menu names etc.: is there somewhere a detailed explanation of the app's GUI and the exact meaning of all the different buttons?
To be honest, some of them are not really self-explanatory to me...Thanks a lot for your responses and explanations!

Quote from Guido on 07.06.2026, 07:02Yes, there are still differences. There is currently a new beta version awaiting Google Play Store approval which will “close the gap” a lot more between Android and iOS. With that version you will find that the walkthrough video (made on iOS) will match a lot better with that version.
Unfortunately Google Play is very slow with the approval process can take a week or even 10 days
Some things, like the shortcuts, will not be available in Android as Android doesn’t have one universal way to implement shortcuts Accross all the different (branded) version of Android.

So I understand the differences to some of the FAQs or video guides are known, and the current Android Beta still offers all the premium features as far as implemented up to now - altough it is June already. Correct?
And is there any "GUI user guide" available I could learn from during my first steps with the app?
Thank you.

Quote from Guido on 07.06.2026, 09:27Correct. Still free, but not for long. Keep an eye out for our next newsletter. To be sent out in the coming week.
No guide for Android yet. The idea is that the walkthrough video can be used for both, even though there will be minor differences.

Quote from bios4 on 07.06.2026, 13:45I am eagerly waiting for the new beta, as I am experiencing quite a few issues with the currently installed version ("v3.61.3 - beta" according to the app!??).
Among other things, the settings I make for the different travel modes (e.g., "Avoid highways" or "Avoid unpaved roads") are not being saved.
They are not retained either between app restarts or even within the same planning session. In addition, the "Avoid highways" option appears to have no effect at all during planning.
For two sample routes I just tested, the route was stubbornly calculated via the highway regardless of whether the option was enabled or disabled!?I'm planning (test) routes in Austria, if this is relevant information...
