Creating a track from a route (that has no been ridden yet)

Guido,

LOVE THIS APP!

I lead riding groups and like to create auto routes in scenic with "extra curvy".  How can I save/export that route scenic gives me before I ride it?  I want to export a gpx file to my riders because they also like to see the route we are taking on their gps devices.

Is there a way to "simulate" the ride so I can then save it and export it?

Thanks

When you select the route from your route list, and then use the ‘export GPX’ button, a GPX is created which contains two routes (2 versions of the route, for different systems) and a track of the route.

Alternatively (maybe better)  you can use the ‘share’ button and send the share link to your friends. When they click that link a web page opens where they’ll see the route on a map and on that webpage there’s also a ‘download GPX’ button, which generates the same GPX file (incl the track).

If you're enjoying Scenic and are happy with the support, please leave a nice rating in the App Store. It would mean a lot to me ❤️

Thanks,  I see it's much easier than I thought.

"contains two routes (2 versions of the route, for different systems)"

is there a way to separate the 2 versions?  Do I need to separate it for people with Garmin's?

Garmins should be able to handle the GPX as is.

Edited original post:  I realized my Starting point was a Via Point and not a Green Start flag.  I deleted the Via Point #1 and added a Green Start flag.  Then I could Save my newly created Route offline.

Hi Guido,

I had a question about using Scenic 3.0 to create a new gpx Route and Save it offline.  Kind of a typical scenario when you're riding off-road in Rockies and due to fire closure you have to come up with a new Route in evening sitting in a tent with no cell phone reception.

I tried doing this scenario at home.  I put my Apple iPhone XR in Airplane mode; cell data, wifi, and Bluetooth all turned off.  I see I can see my existing Routes / data and offline maps.  So far so good.  I go into my Routes and click the + sign to create a new test Route.  I ass starting point ( green flag ), a few Via Points, and destination ( checkered Black flag ).  But, when I go to click the Save menu button nothing happens.  Is this feature working?

Thanks.

Topic:  How to use Scenic to create a new Rack or Track and Import it into Zumo XT using Garmin Drive or other.

I use both Zumo XT and Scenic app on my bike.  I am trying to find out best way to move gpx files / data from Scenic into my Garmin Zumo XT.  Without using a USB cable.  Any suggestions or work around?

Many of us ADV type guys have to create new Routes or modify existing Route ( or Track ) on the fly.  Often without any computer or cellular data.  Having the ability to get our stat into our Zumo XT device would be very helpful.  Some of the applications work with the new Garmin Drive.  One offline smart phone navigation app allows you to Save to a Garmin Drive, which it turn sends the gpx via paired Bluetooth to Zumo XT.  You'll see a message on Zumo XT that you have a new File and if your want to Import it.

Thanks.

I looked at the links and video.  My question and application is different.   I want to use Garmin Drive application for sending my Scenic Route or Track to my Zumo XT device over Bluetooth.  I have paired Garmin Drive to both my Apple iPhone and my Zumo XT.  The Garmin Drive provides middleware for communicating my weather data, messages, email, phone calls, other data to my Zumo XT.  It should also provide a bridge for Sharing my Scenic gpx file over to Zumo XT.  This is very helpful for backup and navigation.

Solution found:  So if I email a GPX file to myself from Scenic ( Share or Export to email ), I can Import the GPX file into my Zumo XT using the Garmin Drive app over Bluetooth.  Now I can seamlessly interact between Scenic and Zumo XT.

connecting Scenic to Zumo XT using Garmin Drive.

Great solution Kam. Thanks for sharing this!

Maybe one improvement to the flow. You could skip the "emailing to self "step. You can directly send the GPX from Scenic to the Drive app:

Of course the Garmin Drive app should be installed on the same phone. If the Drive app doesn't show up immediately, scroll to the right and tap the 'more' button.

I am always for skipping steps 😉

I tried going directly from Scenic using the Drive; as you noted earlier.  That did it.  Works like charm.  THANKS.
