You may select a petrol station an add it to your existing route using big button menu. And thats it, afaik.

So the only workaround would be to restart the route and enter it in the middle (e.g.). Which ist quite frustrating because you get 2 or 3 trips per day.

Or you decide to add a gasoline station into your existing route each 200 km. In France it should be 150 km. Many stations are closed on sundays. Adding them as a stop timeline will show distances to the stops.

It will not pop up, but you can tap in the right lower corner to the „additional Menupoints“ and there it will be „bring me back to the Route“.
