Best way to save a route for offline use?

New Scenic user here (been playing with the app for a couple weeks). Trying to figure out the cleanest workflow for saving a planned route so I can still follow it if I lose signal mid-ride — spotty coverage is a fact of life on the Parkway.
Do most of you download the map tiles first, or is there a better way I'm missing? Any tips appreciated.

Just make sure you have the offline maps for the area covered by your route.

Scenic synchronises your routes to your device, so they’re always available offline if you hang offline maps covering where they go.

The only gotcha is if you plan on one device and navigate on another - remember to go into “my routes” on both devices and pull down to refresh so they’re both in sync

Ah, that clears it up — I was overthinking it. Good to know the routes stay synced as long as I've got the offline maps covering the area. Makes sense.
The multi-device tip is a great heads-up too. I'll probably plan on my laptop and navigate on the phone, so I'll make sure to pull to refresh next time. Wouldn't have thought to check that.
Thanks Dae, appreciate the quick reply.

To be clear: I'm pretty sure that Scenic syncs routes, rides, etc, between devices on its own as long as your device(s) is(are) connected to the server.  I'm not sure how it decides when to do this; the "refresh" action will force a sync, but it will happen on its own eventually...

Good to know — thanks mattsz. Sounds like the manual refresh is more of a "just in case" thing than a must-do, which makes life easier. Between your note and Dae's, I feel a lot more confident heading into my next planned ride.

We often find that a manual sync is required. Just last weekend we were about to set off and noticed that the route wasn’t on my wife’s phone (she plans on her Mac). A manual refresh was required as even after 5 minutes it wasn’t there.

Scenic is pretty reliable, but now and again things happen. We’ve done over 30,000 miles between us (we both ride) using Scenic, so are fairly familiar with it 😀

Definitely worth doing in the comfort of the house, rather than with gloves and helmet on, sat on the bike and ready to go.

We are the instant gratification society, aren't we? 😁

More like it was over 30C and I was baking.

Scenic doesn’t, unless @guidomm says I’m wrong, sync at time based intervals. I believe it only does it when certain things happen. I therefore usually find that if Scenic has been open 5 minutes and the route isn’t synced, then it’s not going to sync without manually forcing it.

It’s especially important if you edit a route on a device and then close Scenic or, for example, close the lid on the Mac or turn the screen off on a phone. You may find in that situation that the sync hasn’t completed.

I’m not saying it’s wrong to not manually sync, just that I personally always take the 1-2 seconds to swipe a refresh just to be sure. Especially if I’m on a multi day tour - bit awkward if the device left at home hasn’t synchronised the route from day 6🤣
