Add POIs while navigating (i.e. nice places, roads or roads to avoid in the future)
Quote from Deleted user on 16.08.2021, 04:31Hi!
I am using Scenic mostly in Spain and especially the "Passknacker" POI lists have allowed me to discover grate routes I would never have found. Thanks a lot!!
WHAT: I would really appreciate to be able to add POIs to predefined lists to create something like "my personal Passknacker" list. Also I think something like a negative list (points to avoid) would make sense.
WHY: Even though on the map some roads appear to be exactly the same, sometimes they are made of asphalt in perfect condition and sometimes they are just gravel roads. So while riding on a planned route, on roads I like to enjoy again I'd love to add "good POI" and on roads I want to avoid in the future a "bad POI".
HOW (so far): I already accomplished to write a little script using Apple Shortcut that is linked to the popup menu in the navigation screen.
It allows me to choose wether it is a good (MotoGut) or a bad (MotoSchlecht) spot while navigation is running and than adds the coordinates of the current location with the current date to a list in the Notes App on the iPhone. Later I can copy paste the content of the two lists to the POI groups in Scenic and I have the POIs on the map and see spots to include or avoid while planning my next trip. I works, but it is somehow a workaround using Shortcut, Notes and copy paste. I think it would be a grate feature to include directly in the Scenic APP.

What do you think?
Greetings and thanks again for the super APP!

Thanks of this suggestion. You are not the first one asking about this actually. But you are the first one who found this workaround for it through shortcuts. That's some great 'out of the box' thinking there!
Some people call it the 'thumbs up', 'thumbs down' feature and you'll find some forum topics on it here as well. In any case, I have planned to add a feature like his in Scenic 3 ( https://scenic.app/help/scenic-3-info/ ). Perhaps even expand the categories a bit. I still have to think about the exact implementation, but I won't forget. It won't be in Scenic 3 from the start as I want to get it in the App Store as soon as possible, but it is high on the list.
Thanks again and best regards,
Guido

I think maybe this reaction belongs to another topic?
But, yes, Scenic 3 will also have the possibility to avoid unpaved roads.

Version 3 is out there some time already but unfortunately I have not had many possibilities to test it intensively.
Is there already a function implemented to create POIs while navigating (to save nice places or roads to avoid)?Greetings

No, not yet. It’s on the list but have not gotten around to it yet. Will be a while as I’m working on CarPlay at the moment.
What you could do as a workaround is enable the ‘quick pic’ button (Settings > Navigation & Tracking). With that button you can very quickly add a pic which is then marked on the map. It’s only for that ride though.
Cheers,
Guido
