I saved it as Public Route “Gordon Dam Tasmania, Australia”

Now that I’m back home it calculates ok.

I analyzed this thoroughly, and it turned out to be an error in the offline map itself. It wouldn't calculate a route to one specific coordinate (one of his via points) that was in that route. The online routing engine did not have problems with that coordinate, so that's why the route calculated fine when he created the route a few days before at home. Once he arrived in Hawaii where he did not have signal / turned data roaming off, the route did not calculate.

Scenic always tries to calculate with the offline map data on the device first. If that fails for some reason, Scenic will try the online route calculation. If you don't have a signal, then that will fail too, and you'll get an error message like the one you received.

For the Hawaii route I submitted a ticket to HERE maps. Tomorrow I'll have a look at your route (I'm 99% sure it's the same kind of issue), and add that situation to the ticket.

I was well out in the country 100k from the nearest big town and my cell phone was in SOS reception mode. I loaded Scenic and tried to load the route from Hill End, NSW, Australia to Gulgong, NSW, Australia that I had previously built at home.

I started riding and after a while I tried to load again when I had Cell coverage and it worked.

looking into this at home I see that I have Zero Offline maps and when I did an update I still do not have the map for Australia

I have clicked the download button next to Australia and it is downloading.

I do have a new phone 16 days ago

I put my phone in No Mobile Data Mode and it worked at home and Aeroplane mode and it worked

I may have answered my own question - offline maps not downloaded

Offline maps are linked to your Scenic account, but not stored with your Scenic data.

For example, if you logout of Scenic and log back in again, you need to redownload the maps.  If you remove Scenic and reinstall it, you need to redownload offline maps. If you get a new phone, install Scenic on it and login with your Scenic account, you need to download offline maps. If you use an iCloud backup to setup a new phone, I’m almost certain you’ll also need to download offline maps again.
