Weird routing - the long way round
Quote from smoeke on 01.06.2025, 06:01I am planning some Routes for my Sardinia vacation at the moment. Now I discovered a Bug related to the map data, but I was not able to find and repair it in the OSM database. So I decided to post it here, as it is creating a „slight“ and weird detour. 😀
I created a route for the issue: https://scenicapp.space/route/lWDcgAlf
At least from the pictures you can see that it should be just a short route from Start to End, but it just goes the really lomg way round. I think it has something to do with the bridge.

Quote from Guido on 01.06.2025, 08:01You are right... it's the bridge. It has access=forestry, which basically means its only allowed for tractors. I don't know if that's correct or not. If you believe it to be incorrect, you could remove that tag, or leave a comment for the map editors so that they correct it in the right way.
This is the link to the bridge on OSM: https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/62324598

Quote from smoeke on 01.06.2025, 08:20Thanks for the quick answer!
I just (no clue why i did not do this before) checked it with Google StreeView (approx. 3-4 years old) and the situation there explains it:
From North coming there is no restricted acces sign, but the bridge itself looks like someone removed the blockage. https://maps.app.goo.gl/LK1VXHRrLYu16Z9W7
From south a bit down the road there is a real blockage with a restriction sign. But the StreetView-Car drives around it near the house. 😀 https://maps.app.goo.gl/WACwFX8pLEL4kY1y8
This seems to be, more or less, one of those „italian“ recommendation restrictions, where you can drive at your own risk.
But I am not sure how the situations looks today. Maybe I get the chance to check it when I am driving there.
I think we have to leave it like this for now, unfortunately.
Thank you very much!

Quote from Guido on 01.06.2025, 08:34What I typically do in these situation is place a stop just before where the route goes away from the road with the 'restriction', and name it "Possible block ahead". Then I can decide at that point what I want to do. If you then decide to ignore the route (go through the blockage), Scenic will try to send you back for some time until you get to the other side of the bridge.

Quote from Guido on 01.06.2025, 09:35B.t.w. did you know Scenic has Street View integrated? Long press at the location and in the pop-up choose "Look Around" (that's Apple's street view and will be preferred if it's avaialable at that location). If not available it will say "street view".

Yes, I know, but I just did not think about checking in the first place. Afterwards i simply used google maps for my 2nd post.
But thanks anyway! 🙂
