Warn when approaching a POI
Quote from Martin46 on 12.01.2025, 01:48Hi Guido,
Thanks for all your hard work getting V4 to where it is now.
Could I request the following feature requests;
1 - An option of an audible warning when approaching a POI.
The option would allow users to choose which POI to add the warning to, with maybe a distance choice for the warning.
An example would be that I have a Speed Camera .gpx file which has all static, mobile and Specs cameras. If I could choose for Scenic to warn me as I approach these at a distance depending on my approaching speed it would be really beneficial.2 - Increase the amount of POI’s that you can upload to Scenic in one file.
At the moment I have to upload multiple files and name them separately to have the complete POI file on Scenic - this refers to the .gpx file in point 1 above for speed camera locations.
Keep up the good work Guido.

Yes I knew that speed cameras would be back, but I don’t think that will include all the “Mobile” speed cameras, just static ones - maybe I’m incorrect in this assumption.
Can you confirm that the upcoming Speed Cameras will include the mobile type, ie the mobile vans and police bike hand held cameras please.
The POI warning/ announcement for other POI’s would still be beneficial in my opinion for riders with intercoms - never a good idea to keep looking at the navigation unit whilst riding.

Quote from Martin46 on 12.01.2025, 09:32The Mobile type speed cameras are locations via a .gpx file.
This file is updated weekly with new or changed positions of these cameras.
It obviously doesn’t give a realtime view of whether the location is being used, it gives a potential location that maybe in use at the time of you passing it.
I’ve been using this type with other navigation units and can confirm that the files are extremely accurate and helpful.
The warning would only need to be an audible “bleep” or similar.
I’ve attached have set this up in my POI group in my account if you would like to see it.
