Voice is very slow.
Quote from JosD on 16.12.2021, 12:49Just installed Scenic on my new IPhone 13 mini.
Never had problems before but now the routing voice is very slow, to slow so it even gets mixed up when turns are close.
What can I do to have a reasonable and normal voice (speedwise)?
Tried to chance the speech speed in settings IOS but didn't help....

Quote from Guido on 16.12.2021, 13:52Im afraid the new framework doesn’t offer options to change the voice speed. Its the standard 100% speed for all voices.
Never had this feedback before though. Perhaps something else is going on. Could you send me a short route where the turn instructions get mixed up because of slow voice? (Select route from list and then use ‘share’ button to send me the link). Then I’ll try and simulate here. Please also mention which turns this happens. Thanks

Quote from JosD on 16.12.2021, 14:48Made a small route what I drove this morning, on via point 1 and 2 the voice was to slow to follow the route and got completely mixed up.
The route is public and is named "Test drive JosD 16/12/21" the link: https://scenicapp.space/route/yoGYbjSk
I tried with the two Dutch voices available (male and Female) in both cases the voice is too slow!

Ik vind hem ook erg traag.

Hi,
probably the Netherlands are to small becoming announces in time? 😉
Sorry for this bad joke and best greatings from a realy Dutchlover German 🙂
PS: I myself realy enjoy the "unhectic" anouncements ... and all navigationsystems I know have a problem with deviations fast following another. And a second anouncement like " ... and then .. " is for me a sign to look a little bit more accurate on the screen. I don't beleave, that it is possible to help all diffrent kinds of users, only by announcements in every situation arround the whole world. And if you - leading a group of more than 20 motorcycles - in a town in a dead-end street ... this incident will be discushed more than 20 years in future :))

Quote from Guido on 17.12.2021, 04:38I will do this in English, so others can follow:
If I look at these scenarios, it's not so much the speed of the voice, but more the timing. The instructions should be earlier / further away from the turn.
In these videos you'll see the route simulation of your route, near via point 1 (I added a via point for simulation purposes, so via point 2 in the videos is your via point 1: https://share.icloud.com/photos/08cZmAlCUt5zFrUJKpHpGsZJw
Now, why are these instructions so late? Well... it's because a via point is just before the turn / junction. It's a bit technical, but if there is a via point before a junction, there will be no audible turn instructions until after the via point. The via point is blocking the voice instructions if you will.
This is a bit of a quirck of the framework. I can't do anything about that I'm afraid. So, what I recommend, if possible, is to place via point a bit further away from junctions. Better yet, place them in the middle of straight stretches. Here's a video of your via point 1 junction, with via points placed a bit different. As you can see, the turn instruction comes a lot sooner, In fact, you'll get two voice instructions for this turn: https://share.icloud.com/photos/097JZSqy9ao0wQCkh0ppatDLA
P.S. Please also note that simulation speed is 54 km/h. Typically you'll go slower these kinds of roads, giving you more time for the turn instructions to play:

That’s on the list for the future. Will be quite some time though. Other things are more important now. At the moment, to simulate a route, requires a lot of manual code adjustments.
