v4.20 finish navigation did not save whole track
Quote from windingroad38 on 15.06.2025, 14:55Hi, I did a navigation today. I had set „pause automatically“ and „resume automatically“ to on.
Then we did a stop where we also walked a little bit. In order to stop scenic from resuming the navigation automatically while walking I disabled „resume automatically“.
When we continued the ride, I manually started the navigation and Scenic routed us like normal to our destination. Then I finished and saved the route.
After having a look into this ride, I realized that the saved route was shorter than the actual ride. The saved route stopped at that place where we did the little walk.
So this is not what I would have expected. How can I avoid this behavior?

Quote from Guido on 15.06.2025, 16:38Sounds like a bug. Did you see the breadcrumb trail on the map after the walk? What was the button bottom left? (Red recording or black paused)?
is it possible that the ride auto-paused again before you actually started moving? (Auto pause initiates after 90 seconds of no movement detected.

Quote from windingroad38 on 15.06.2025, 23:14Hi Guido, I remember during the walk, Scenic started to make this sound like, when, during a ride, it detects a detour and recalculates the routing. I checked the scenic screen once and, as far es I can remember, there was no breadcrumb and it shows the pause symbol and not the recording symbol.
After starting the ride manually in scenic again it might be possible, that we started actual riding after more than 90sec as I was waiting for my buddy to get ready. Regarding the recording symbol then I cannot say for sure, because we had to detour a little bit and I was busy with that. And as the routing itself looked „normal“ I was not aware of the possibility that the recording could still be paused…Maybe an „eyecatcher“ like a popup with a beep when auto-pause becomes active would be helpful to realize that tracking is paused. And, the same when auto resume is off and scenic detects a movement which makes sense to a ride (not walk) after a while, it might be helpful if it then says something like „tracking paused“ or „would you like to resume?“ or so. Both maybe as an optional setting in the advanced section so users can choose on that.
For the stops planned for today I will have a closer look on that and will give more detailed feedback on what scenic is doing in those situations…But to have scenic not recording the walk as part of the bike ride the only way to achieve this ist unset auto resume, is that correct?

Quote from Guido on 16.06.2025, 09:28I understand. I will add a big alert on the screen if the ride is paused and auto-resume is turned off.

Quote from windingroad38 on 16.06.2025, 12:12a little feedback from today; I played around with the settings, toggled auto resume off and on and had a look on what’s happened to the track, paying special attention on the recording indicator. I made sure that it showed the red recording symbol when we started the ride again, regardless if auto resume was set or not. Today, the full track was recorded and saved. So I guess it was like Guido mentioned, that the auto pause feature killed the tracking while auto resume was off.
To clarify the „big“ alert: I would suggest not to alert, when the ride is paused, but to alert when the ride continues under those circumstances. Does this make sense?
Because when I am alerted when pause starts, I would for sure going to forget this alert when the ride starts later on again. I know me 😌
