Turn-by-Turn directions in Carplay not working

I’m using 4.11 and when selecting Ride I do not get turn by turn directions while using CarPlay. I thought this was corrected in a previous version. I just updated to 4.12 but have not used it since the upgrade.

That’s strange. Did you select a pre-saved route for navigation, or a single destination? Also, could you post a screenshot of your detour behavior settings? (Settings > Nav & Tracking > Detour Behaviour. )

Thank you.

It occurs for sure when I select Search from the main screen, add the result to the route and the click Ride. I have not tried recently with multi-stop routes or pre-saved routes (in version 4.11). I did try a pre-saved route this morning with version 4.12 and after selecting Start in CarPlay it didn’t start routing and kept the Start window and button on the screen. I had to change to Apple Maps as I had people waiting on me. It did track and save the route properly though as I didn’t stop the app when I switched to Apple Maps,

Here are the screenshots you asked for:

I don't know if this is related or not but today I had to drive down to the city for something. I'm in the Kia Sorento using CarPlay and USB cable connected to an iPhone Pro Max 14.

Working great. Stopped for a break, disconnected the phone, got out of the car, etc.. When I got back in connected and started the car, Scenic resumed. However, it wasn't until I was on the freeway (Motorway/Autoroute/Autostrada/Autobahn) that I noticed that while the track was still overlaid on the map (a green route), the turn-by-turn instruction window and the bit that displays distance to go, time to go, time of arrival wasn't being  displayed.

And when I got to my destination, all that I saw was a  flag at the end of the route.

2 weekends ago on the motorbike and wifi connected to the Chigee this never happened.

Oh, and the map display was zoomed right out too, so I  could see the start and end of the route (it was 120km long). I had to press the "+" button to zoom it in to show about a kilometre.

I’ve not had this problem with Scenic but have had it whilst using Google Maps with CarPlay i.e. no spoken guidance and map zoomed in to show start and finish. Had to end route and re-enter to fix it.

Update:

I tested in my F150 this morning with Caray and turn-by-turn directions work for both an ad-hoc single destination route and a saved multi-stop route.

I will check again tonight with my CarPlay on my Goldwing. I’m using the CarLinq 5.0 for wireless CarPlsy on the bike. I’ll try both wireless and direct wired to the bike and report back.

Thank you for the details @jcantello. Sounds like v4.12 might have fixed this. Could you let me know how it goes tonight with your Goldwing?

@marts... what version are you on? (you can see version number at bottom of settings). v4.12 is gradually being released to all users over a 7 day period since friday, so it's possible your Scenic did not auto-update yet.

Hi Guido

4.12 and according to the app store app it was updated 2 days ago. I experienced that "disconnect" issue yesterday.

Yes, that update became available two / three days ago. That does not necessarily mean that your installation updated immediately. In any case, I will have a detailed look at this. If you get a chance to try it again that would be great. If not, no problem.

I performed the following tests tonight and all started turn-by-turn directions as expected. So until the weather warms up from the winter storm that his yesterday I won’t be able to confirm if there are any lag issues or issues beyond the first turn.

1. Started ad-hoc route from the phone then made Scenic the active app on CarPlay.

2. Started ad-hoc route in CarPlay.

3. Started saved route in CarPlay

One issue I noticed afterwards, as others have mentioned, is that once I was in North Up mode I couldn’t change it while in CarPlay. I had to make make another app active in CarPlay so I could switch it to direction-up on the phone and then make Scenic active again in CarPlay.
