The reason why this is currently happening is that your iPad doesn't retrieve the most recent point-total from the server before adding the new points. Instead, it sums the points you had on the iPad with the ones you just earned by creating a public route. Then it sends that 'new' total to the server which then is propagated to your other devices.
As a workaround, to prevent this until this is solved, before you do anything on your iPad, tap the profile picture in the main screen and then do a 'pull-to-refresh' in the profile screen. Then your points are synced with the server and iPad should reflect the same points as on your iPhone.
