The worst motorcycle app ever

I purchased this app in June ‘25 for a 2 week trip to Europe. Two friends also purchased it. To say it failed would be an understatement. Misdirection, constant freezing and an inability to reroute made it completely unusable. My frie ds also had the same experience, so it wasn’t a ‘me’ issue. This guy seems to know the app is crap, yet keeps selling it on the App Store. I’ve requested a refund and would warn anyone thinking of making a purchase to look elsewhere. Shockingly bad.

Scenic is working fine with me and is still improving every month.
it has features that no other nav-app has.

There wasn’t a question in there, and your feedback was not really actionable with specific things that went wrong. It seemed to me like an email to “vent”, which is fine and I understand.Just so you know… this is a one-man show. This is my life’s work. It’s not a faceless business. It’s just me.I’m constantly improving the app and listening to user feedback all the time. If you don’t believe me, check this forum. I’m always happy to improve the app and listen to users if there is constructive and actionable feedback, which yours, well, just wasn’t.If you have any actionable feedback for me with examples what and where it went wrong I’ll be happy to take a look.Again, I’m very sorry for your bad experience. I’m a motorcycle rider myself, and know how awful it can be if your trip is interrupted by failing technology that should just work.Best regards,Guido

id agree on the ‘features that no other app has’. I can honestly say I’ve never had one that completely failed on every level.

You know full well that the app isn’t working, yet continue to sell it on the App Store. Zero sympathy from me for someone who’ll knowingly take money for a faulty product.I simply want my money back.

Quote from Charlie J on 04.07.2025, 05:04Sorry to hear that you and your friends had a problem with Scenic. My experience has been fantastic. Scenic is for me the best routing/navigation tool available (and I have tried many). Once I had configured it with my preferred settings and taken a little time to familiarise myself with how it worked, I've never had a problem. Furthermore, the support and ongoing development from Guido is second to none. I for one, am a very happy Scenic user.

Quote from Melbara on 04.07.2025, 08:24Somtimes it just the 30cm infromt of the screen and not the app itself!
Many times have I had a problem with Scenic and so I looked into the Forum to see If I can find an answer.
I usually do and realise it was me who did somthing wrong or thought somthing different.
So first look into the mirror before you try and blame the world!
I find Scenic great and just love to use it, I also find that Guido does very well constantly reacting to us users, answering in somtimes just seconds.
He will never be able to comply to each and every wissh from us, but he's doing a damn good job at it!
Keep up the good work Guido and don't be fooled or get upset by the one or two that are dissapointed.
Cheers

Quote from Maneno on 04.07.2025, 09:36Hello @underdog,
I have been using Scenic for the last 6 years (since V2) travelling in America, Europe and Africa, and I am very happy with it. First because the app is giving me a lot of flexibility to use my GPS application the way I want; and second, because Guido is always there, listening the user community to enhance and improve the tool every day.
This is not an application you can master in one day because all the options and possible configurations it has. You need to dedicate some time, undertand it and configure it to behave the way you expect, and then magically you will understand that it is a great app.
You already bought the App, so you still have the possibility to use it for another 11 months, my suggestion is to dedicate some time to learn how it works, and then you will most probably become another happy user.
Regards

Quote from Underdog on 04.07.2025, 10:32Glitching, failures and poor routing is nothing to do with the user. By his own admission in response to a user review on the App Store, the gps system had to be replaced at short notice causing many issues. They clearly remain to be resolved. I’ll be using my refund to buy calimoto which always worked well. Blind loyalty is not very edifying on your part tbh.

Hi,
Interesting experience that you and your friends had in the EU. I traveled in the EU using Scenic for six weeks last year, just before the change over to v4, in Spain/Portugal and never had a hiccup from Scenic. This past six months I've been using v4.x to travel over 6K miles in the US and have generally had a positive experience - given that I'm using the Beta versions. I'll be using v4 in the EU in a couple of months and expect it will behave as I expect it to given the settings I use for Nav and UI.
The question I have for you is, if Scenic v4 was so consistently bad for you and your friends, how is it that the vast majority of v4 users don't have these same problems? Real software bugs are repeatable. Give me just one of your use-cases and lets see how repeatable it is.
P.S. I evaluate Nav Software/Hardware and even wrote my own Nav App on WinCE over twenty years ago (wouldn't wish it on anyone).

You should have no issues. My wife and I both run the latest Beta version and have just completed 2,500 miles in 2 weeks in Spain and Portugal with no issues. (Technically fewer days as there were 2 overnight ferries and 1 day not riding). Temperature were at 42C for a few days, and never really under 30C. Phones were in the storage compartment of our R1300GSs. The longest day was 293 miles (only about 30 miles were on motorways).
We were a group of 4. The other 2 had Garnin devices which calculated the routes differently. However, they also had them displaying the GPX track of our routes so could see where their Garmins had discrepancies.
Scenic ran perfectly, and even coped when we purposefully took minor detours to look at something that wasn’t in the routes.
We were running Scenic on iPhone 15 Pro Max phones, connected to Chigees. I had the Chigee 6 that replaced my 5, 2 days before we left. My wife had the Chigee 5 as her 6 wasn’t delivered until the day after we left the UK.
I have to say that @guidomm is the best developer I’ve ever dealt with. There’s times I’ve reported bugs in the beta late at night and by the time I’ve woken up the following day he’s fixed them! The guy must never sleep

And blind criticism is edifying in your book? You give zero example of what went wrong. I just come back from a 3000kms trip using Scenic with CarPlay with 0 issue. We get to a point where the app seems stable. Other users are saying the same, it works well now which wasn’t the case last year when we had to move from V3 to V4.
