Tag a Road
Quote from clarkml72 on 02.03.2025, 10:52Many times I have planned a route but come across a poorly paved road or non-paved road. I would like to be able to tag that road as (one to avoid / bad) in the middle of the route so that I can work on it later when planning. I have a hard time remember those named roads so the tagging would help recall where I was when we hit that bad road, etc..

Quote from Guido on 02.03.2025, 12:17Similar features have been requested frequently. To mark a nice spot, to mark a bad spot, etc. It’s on the list to add that.
What you could do as a workaround at the moment, is take a picture and add a comment to that picture. The picture pins will show on the map of your recorded ride. Not the best workaround, as you need to stop to do this, but perhaps it’s workable for you until I have time to add this.

Quote from clarkml72 on 02.03.2025, 13:12I had thought about that, but you are right, could do it that way. I usually plan and lead rides and would have to stop, etc. So yes could do that but need a more rapid cannot stop sorta deal 🙂

Quote from johansw on 03.03.2025, 03:53What I do is to have the photo button on screen and just click a photo leaving it on the mount. That adds sa pin with some blurred photo but thas is all i need. I have done this driving - at least up to now…

Quote from Grapii on 03.03.2025, 13:39If using iOS, like me, you can create a shortcut called “log location”, on triggering this shortcut it records the date/time, GPS coordinates, and location data to a logging note in Apple Notes. If the Note doesn’t exist, it creates, else it appends.
I’ve then added this shortcut to the Scenic shortcut button, so if I pass an amazing view point or bad road, then I can trigger the Log Location shortcut directly from Scenic, then review the logged entries after the ride.

The shortcut creates a note called “📍My Location Logs” inside a folder called “✈️ Travel”

That looks interesting, thanks for posting that @Grapii!

@clarkml72 - check out the following thread, Old Man Emu has done some interesting-looking work with shortcuts as well. There's something for marking locations ("Great Roads") that's part of a shortcut offering a menu of options, but also a communication shortcut which might assist you in your roll as a ride leader...

I haven't tried these, so I can't vouch for them, but they look nice!

Awewsome! Thanks for that! I was trying to create a shortcut for a picture to remember the location but it did not save the coordinates to the picture although geotagging is on. My second trial was a screenshot but even that is tricky to find the location afterwards and the time to start the screenshot was way too long when using carplay.
I will now try your „my location log“ as it seems to be the perfect solution

I would love to see these features implemented directly into the app. Ideally in the CarPlay part as well!
