Speedometer not tracking speed in real time

Guido,

I noticed some odd behavior in Scenic 3.5 connected to CarPlay this afternoon. The speedometer does not track vehicle speed as it did before. The displayed value will rise and fall as the vehicle speed increases or decreases, but very slowly. It’s as though the displayed number is a long term average rather than an instantaneous value.

Any ideas?

I'm aware of this bug and looking into it. It seems to be a bug in iOS, but looking for solutions / workarounds.

If you're enjoying Scenic and are happy with the support, please leave a nice rating in the App Store. It would mean a lot to me ❤️

Hi, Scenic is almost perfect.

Only prob for me is speedo update on Carplay- doesnt update as it should however effect is only carplay for me

IOS 17.2.1 iphone13  /3.51

best wishes

This behavior appears to be somewhat improved as of iOS 17.3.1 and Scenic 3.52. The speedometer updates sluggishly, but eventually settles on the correct value.

Yeah... this is a bug on Apple side. It's a bit technical, but the relatively new SwiftUI views (which the current speedometer is), do not update well on CarPlay. In the next update, I'm changing this to an "old" UIKit view. It will look a bit different, but it will work. 🙂

No worries about being technical. No Apple programming experience, but I used to code for a living.

Guido,

Just a quick update - the speedometer is working in CarPlay once again as of 3.5.4.

Thanks!

Jeff
