There is no way to skip the start point automatically, but you could choose "no" in the above alert. Then, navigation will not start until you reach the route. It doesn't matter where you reach the route. If you reach it "behind" the route start, it will mark the route start as reached.

I had the following situation, I planned a route in my hotel room and took as starting point my current position.

When I went to my motorcycle in the morning and loaded the planned route, I answered the above question with "no", because I was on the route. When I started driving I was on the magenta line, but I hadn't reached the starting point because it was in the hotel room and "SCENIC" tried the whole time to route me to the starting point, which I would never reach. Skipping the waypoint did not work, I pressed it several times, but no luck.

So perhaps I had to answer the "Do you want to be guided to the route start?"-question, with "yes"?

In the future I will set the starting point to my motorcycle.

I believe this is actually a bug. When you choose “no” it should pick up the route from wherever you join it, and mark all waypoints before that as “reached” (including the route start).

I’ll look into it.

Johan’s tip is also a good one. I always put my route start further down the road or even a general point like a gas station (in case I want to make that route public or share it with others).
