Share Route to Garmin Zumo
Quote from Ninja Nerd on 24.07.2023, 15:41Hello,
I installed Scenic for the first time today on my iPhone and managed to create a nice route. I quite like the user interface compared to the route planning tools provided by Garmin.
Now that I have my route, I want to get it on my Zumo XT. I understand this must be done via the Garmin Drive app on my iPhone. But when I click "Share" in Scenic, Garmin Drive is not listed as an option. Garmin Drive is installed on my phone and connected via Bluetooth to my Zumo. What am I missing here (or is there another way to get a route from Scenic onto a Zumo XT?
Thank you

My planned route showed up in Trip Planner under "Imported Trips" which was unexpected (but great). The Garmin interpreted the exported GPX file as two different routes. The first one accurately reflected the route I created in Scenic. For the second one, the Garmin chose some different roads that I didn't want so I just deleted that trip. I'll give the first one a try and see how it works on the road. Curious how it will adapt on the fly if I end up taking a slightly different path. I will try this just to see how it reacts.
The Garmin Explore app is ok - it does work quite well in terms of real-time synchronization to the Zumo XT. But creating the route in the first place (and editing it afterwards) is very clumsy compared to Scenic. Now that you've explained how to get my trips over to the Zumo, I look forward to testing them out on the road.
Overall, I've been quite frustrated with how difficult it has been to plan motorcycle trips in a way that works well with the excellent Zumo XT, but it looks like Scenic might be the solution I've been looking for. Garmin software has always been crap - if they were smart, they would just give you a suitcase full of money and fire their own developers!

You are not the first one struggling with Garmin route creation indeed. I believe there are quite some users who use Scenic exactly like you. To create the route and then navigate with their Garmin.
A suitcase with money would be nice 🙂.

Is there an option to find the best routes in Ontario Canada to download using GPX file in Scenic App?
Maybe there is a place in the app to go and search and find the best route GPX file to download. Any suggestion is appreciated.
Sorry I had to randomly pick a post to state my request since the forum didn't have an option to create a new post.
Thanks

Hi Guido.
I've just created a route using Power Planner and saved it. I've done this via the Mac. I must be going blind as I can't find how to export the route. I want to share it as a GPX file with some friends for an upcoming ride this weekend.
Thanks

Quote from Guido on 23.05.2024, 19:17On the mac the "export" button is a bit hard to get to indeed. Here are instructions: https://scenic.app/forum/topic/planning-and-using-different-type-of-route-settings/#postid-7066
If you do this on a Mac, it won't open the Garmin Drive app obviously 🙂.

Thanks for the quick reply. However, no matter what I do, I cannot "grab" that menu and drag it or scroll it down.
Anyway, it doesn't matter. The route was saved via my Scenic account and I shared it from the iPhone.
Cheers
