Share current GPS Location

What is the easiest way to share your current location in a group.

We all use scenic and it would be nice to see my friends on the map. Is that possible?

If not - is there a good alternative tool like life360 or google maps. Who has some experience with sharing your life location in a group?

This is currently not possible within Scenic, but it's on the feature request list.
To share your location with the home front, I simply use Find My from Apple. If you'd like to share your location in a group you could start a WhatsApp group and share your location there. This won't show all your locations on the map at the same time though.
I'm sure there are other solutions out there that do that, but I don't know of any from the top of my head.

My daughter persuaded me to set up Life 360 and to create a group which has her, son-in-law and my wife. It shows all of our locations on a map and when travelling, it shows live speed, too.

Thing is, there is a time lag. Last time that she visited I tracked her. It said that she was 3 minutes away when she was, in fact, pulling into my driveway. So there's that.

Google Maps does the sharing thing too, but its even worse with updates than Life 360.

There are several solutions like „wingman“. Below 2 more options.

First one is: Glympse. You may share your position with others. Showing your speed is optional, in case your sweetheart is checking your postion

Second is: What3words. This is used in our country by emergency teams to find people, even when there is no adress. I like it because you may find everyone, everywhere. The squares are 3 by 3 meter and each square has a unique name all over the world.

Descriptions are german, but the app-name stays the same in your app-store.

I use the Scenic built in function that allows the use of Apple Shortcuts.

Basically

1) tap the Scenic menu during a ride

2) select “Send message & location to ride buddies”

3) it pops up SMS message with message and location pin

4) send

I use it a lot, mostly when I stop to take photos just to let them know
