Search along route

How do I search for things like hotels, restaurants, attractions/ POIs or Harley dealers along a route I am creating or have created? I’ve tried but the search ends up showing for my current location. If his feature isn’t available when will it be?  Seems like a necessity for planning a multi day ride. Pretty basic need

Hi Ed,

just for the benefit of the group here in the forum, my response from the facebook user group:

It’s actually pretty straight forward - with or without a route you select a location on the map; select search and filter for what you are looking for like Uwe has outlined; if you do not get good enough results, you just press the „try google“ button at the end of the list and you get additional results.

Personally I would never expect that a navigation software could provide a deep level of integration, as almost everyone has a different approach to book hotels or restaurants or others especially you would need tons of additional filters on type of food or quality of hotel, limiting ot a specifc taste and what not.

Also I would hope as soon we get map customization back, we can filter for the type of locations OSM offers already and you just need to point and click for them to add them into your route … we will see what’s coming up

P.S. I am not sure what’s the range limit scenic is using for the search, so some locations in the Alps do not show any results simply as there are no locations in OSM, has nothing to do with the App itself.

Alternatively, I use this specifically for finding the most interesting sight seeing locations, export your GPX track from scenic and ask ChatGPT for the best locations, restaurants or hotels along the route - might be the even better option than google maps or google search. Even so ChatGPT seams to have a limitation, at least in my free account, how complex / large / amount of waypoints the GPX file could be to be used.

Hope this helps to get most out of your route, Markus
