Scenic wants to always route me home

So, I create a route starting and ending at the same location. I am traversing a small area, ( 20 square miles) crisscrossing the same roads, figuring eight-ing around the area.
So, I may have Via point 3 and Via point 35 on the same road, very close together (all in an attempt to use the roads I choose)

Scenic wants to skip Via points 4-34… cutting the route off.

Yeah. This is a tricky one. For those complicated routes where the way out and the way back contain the same stretches of roads, Scenic can get confused.

It can handle routes where this only happens once or sometimes twice depending on where the overlap is, but if it’s more complicated, what you experienced, can happen.

This is because Scenic, during a navigation session, always monitors if you are on or off route, and if off route, it needs to determine how to get you back on route. If the road overlaps, it will just take you to the end point as soon as possible. I have mitigated this for round trips somewhat, but I can’t mitigate it for all scenarios.

what I recommend is this:

- try to add some stops (not via points). Stops are never skipped and count as sort of ‘destination’.
- make sure you have ‘auto-skip via points’ turned OFF (settings > navigation and tracking > detour behaviour)

If that doesn’t help, better to create two routes. One for the way out, and one for the way back.

If you're enjoying Scenic and are happy with the support, please leave a nice rating in the App Store. It would mean a lot to me ❤️
