Scenic Quit Unexpectedly CarPlay 4.17

The CarPlay issues seem to be endless. After updating to Scenic version 4.17, I get this message when I open the Scenic app from CarPlay. I then have to switch to another app on CarPlay, open the Scenic app on my iPhone, and only then does it start working on CarPlay, which I find quite strange.

Quote from blackhawk1618 on 07.04.2025, 14:08My understanding is that Scenic crashes unexpectedly when the app is forcibly closed while recording or navigating. However, in my case, Scenic was not running, and I opened it directly from CarPlay right away and it showed that screen message.

Quote from Guido on 07.04.2025, 14:30I just tried again myself. (Scenic completely closed on iPhone and then connect to CarPlay). For me, this screen does not show.
The way that Scenic knows if there was a crash, is by checking if a tracking log file exists. (This checking also happens when starting on CarPlay). If the log file exists it will show that message.
Perhaps there is a log file remainder on your device. Can you try following:
- Start Scenic on iPhone
- Tap “ride” button
- Then stop navigation session (you will get message that ride can’t be saved because it’s too short… that’s fine… choose stop ride)
- This will remove the log file if it was still there.

Ok Understood.
I will definitely try these steps. However, my concern is that I usually save the rides and close the Scenic app. I am unsure if the app closed unexpectedly, and I would like to know if this can be addressed automatically in a future version, so I don't have to perform these steps manually.

Quote from Guido on 07.04.2025, 16:27If you save the ride, then the log file is removed and this screen shouldn’t appear. If you force close Scenic BEFORE stopping and saving the ride, the log file remains and this screen will appear.

Quote from Martin on 04.05.2025, 15:00Today I hat the same problem…
Honda Africa Twin, connected with Iphone 13 with scenic 4.18 and actual ios.
I was on a planned route, navigation with car play/scenic was fine.
I stopped for a short break, switched of the engine after stopping.
After the short break I switched on the engine and got the message „scenic quit….“
Switch to another app, scenic on the Iphone, use the option „resume“. The navigation for the rest of the route was ok, but I had a new tracked route. The first part finished.
During a traffic jam, switch of the engine, same situation…
How can I fix it? I‘like to have one tracked route, not two or three parts of it… cause of a break…

Quote from Mex on 04.05.2025, 23:41Hi folks.
Same happened to me. Went 600 km by car and after a 10 Minutes break Scenic 4.18 brought up this message.
- Switched to another app and back helped to resume. Second break (engine off) for 15 minutes same result. Stopped and reloaded the route. Scenic directed me to the next via. I had 2 vias. Just to force Scenic to take the shorter route.
While on a bike it could have been more complicated. Stop, glooves, get cellphone, etc.
What i liked about the situation: Scenic continued the ride to the next via without asking me.
But this hang-up after engine off is a bit annoying.
