Scenic on Mac -> Locatio

Hi,

I tried to use Scenic on Mac (MacMini M1). It is running and I can see my stored trips.

But when I start Scenic the location is somewhere in the US.
As I‘m living in Germany I cannot create a new trip, because it complained that it is too far away.

Access to location in granted in the security settings.

Probably I miss something, maybe you can give me a hint.

Hmmm. Strange. It works for me and no other feedback on this so far.

If location access is not the problem, then maybe your mac really thinks it’s in the US. What happens with Google Maps for example?

Your approx location is determined by IP address on a desktop. Are you running a VPN perhaps?

The fallback location for Scenic (if it can not or is not allowed to determine your location) is Apple Headquarters (Infinite Loop).

If you're enjoying Scenic and are happy with the support, please leave a nice rating in the App Store. It would mean a lot to me ❤️

I‘ve got it. The reason was, than my Mac is connected via LAN.
In order to get the location, it needs to be connected via WLAN (at least additionally).

No glue why, it‘s the same router, but now it‘s working fine. Thanks!

And yes, it was the fallback location 😉

I am about to pick up my new MacBook with M1 processor. One thing I have been looking forward to is to use the app on such a Mac. Are there any instructions? What do I need to know/do to get Scenic running on this Mac?

Just go to the Mac App Store and download scenic. (Make sure it also shows iPad apps).

its basically the iPad app running on the mac, so works the same.

Since the Mac mini doesn't have a GPS module, Apple uses nearby WiFi networks to determine/verify your location.
