Scenic and Roadtrippers
Quote from Stresspuppy on 15.01.2024, 14:58Has anyone used Scenic in conjunction with Roadtrippers? I have a free trial of RT at the moment and I'm playing with it to see if I can use it to create routes and then import into Scenic. RT has a lot of POIs already built in and you can turn things on and off, determine how far from the main path you want to look for POIs and some other stuff.
It seems nice for that kind of thing, but when I export to GPX and import into Scenic, I get a long list of routes and another list of waypoints. For some reason, the export/import process is treating the segment between each waypoint as a separate route. So on the screen of the Scenic import section, each segment is listed out with the import button next to it. So it appears that each segment will import as a route and be disconnected. What I was hoping for was it all to come in as one route. Is this related to the way Roadtrippers is exporting, or the way Scenic is importing?
While it seems nice to assist in planning routes, it's worthless if the segment between each waypoint is a separate route.

So, it seems like Roadtrippers is splitting the route into several separate routes when exporting. I'm not very familiar with Roadtrippers, but perhaps there is an option when you export routes, to not split them up?

Quote from Stresspuppy on 16.01.2024, 08:56Roadtrippers (https://roadtrippers.com/) is a website and app that allows you to plan a trip just like Scenic and others, but it has POIs already included with information about them so you can see the POIs along the way, within a certain distance of your route, and you can filter them by type. I don't know all the ins and outs as I just started the trial the other day, but the idea of being able to see all of that and plan a trip, then send to Scenic for routing/navigation and logging the ride might be a nice approach.
I sent an email to their support team about not splitting things up and I'll see what they come back with and post here in case others are wondering.
To the group at large - is there anyone that has investigated, is using, or has used and is no longer using that might be willing to share some thoughts?
