What I also notice is the track recoding is showing but not the navigation and I can hear the iPhone app recalculating and navigating as expected - there are no navigation instructions on the screen.  That said, when the ride is stopped and the track saved, then this shows on CarPlay and not on the app:

Hope this helps and this is the same for both wired and wireless CarPlay.

The CarPlay implementation in v4.0.1 is very very minimal. You can basically only see the map, zoom, pan, switch zoom mode and map direction.
