Scenic 3 Detour Behaviour and Auto-skip Via points
Quote from Muz on 08.11.2021, 20:22I'm liking the new looked UI but the Auto-skip Via point option does not seem to be working in Scenic 3 as on a trip on the weekend I was actually at the destination and it was still trying to send me back to a missed via point that was passed over 100km earlier in the trip.

I guess this is hard to know afterwards. Should this happen again you can always use the ‘skip next via/stop button in the navigation menu.
In any case I am looking into making this more intuitive / making it skip automatically if you are back on the original route.

how can I see being in or out of the auto-skip distance?
Is there still a diffrence between Waypoints an Vias? (Like in Scenic 2)
If you: " ... making it skip automatically if you are back on the original route ... " was in Scenic 2 a very helpful and relaxed function. But please only for Vias!

Quote from Guido on 09.11.2021, 01:25You can’t see this I’m afraid. It’s just an a value that you have to play around with. It depends a bit on the kind of routes you ride I guess and how close together you typically place via points.
If you miss a via point, how close is that via point typically? Your auto skip distance should be a bit longer then that.
Distance between vias and stops is still there. Stops are never auto-skipped. and stops get a proximity alert. Vias don’t.

What can happen, when I set the auto-skip distance from now 2,5 km to 25 km? Or think I wrong and have to reduce auto-skip distance to skip faster a via?
(I use very diffrent kinds of routes. E. G. 1. day arrival, then 2 days making round trips and the 4. day the return journey. At each route may be several places of interest and / or seeming beautiful curves I mark with waypoints. The Rest will be marked with vias. This means 4 - 5 waypoints riding 300 - 500 km)

Quote from Guido on 09.11.2021, 06:26Well Scenic doesn’t know why a via point exists. So it will just skip it (remove it from the route) IF you deviate from the route (initiating a recalculation) and only IF it’s within the skip-distance ‘up-route’ from where you deviate
stops will never be skipped, unless you use the ‘skip via/stop’ button in the navigation menu.
in the end it depends on your preference. Skipping a via point can alter your route significantly in some occasions but in other occasions it might not change your route at all. Is it OK for you if your route changes a bit different potentially when you deviate ? Or Do you want to follow the route exactly as designed and you want scenic to send you back persistently to follow the exact route? Do you want scenic to automatically decide? Or do you want to keep the ‘power’ to skip via points manually (which requires a bit more interaction during riding)?
