Satellite Image blurry

Hi Guido,

I would like to say that I have used other apps, Scenic has better features and is overall a better product. So with the many issues/complaints you get, I give you credit for your efforts.

The only issue I’ve seen with CarPlay since 4.20 is that sometimes when it starts the map is blank. It always starts in full screen if you are in the middle of a tracked ride, and won’t allow you to switch to the windowed screen (or whatever it’s called) until you are moving enough to start tracking again from a pause. This is minor to me but I wanted you to be aware.

The biggest issue I have right now is the satellite or hybrid map seems to be unusable in many areas. I live in the Midwest USA and I am having a hard time. I sometimes need really specific places to go and I can’t do it because I can’t see anything zoomed in at any level. While riding, even with great signal, I can’t see anything. Maybe this is a OSM issue, but it makes the satellite and hybrid useless right now.

The satellite images do not come from OSM. This is a 3rd party provider. They have more detailed images than your screenshot. It only works when online though (satellite images are not included in offline maps). I can see that you have full 5G. Did you block Scenic from using cellular data perhaps?

Also… under Scenic > Settings > Finetuning there is a setting to only download satellite images when on WiFi. If you chose to enable that, then this could happen.

Hello again,

For some reason Scenic will no longer save my setting for satellite maps. I turn it off of WiFi only, tell the popup to always download, and it won’t do it. I close the app and the setting is back to WiFi only. I’ve tried this multiple times today.

Any idea of what is happening?

Not sure. Haven’t had any other reports and I can’t reproduce this. So, it’s not downloading satellite maps when you are on cellular data? (What happens if you go move the map to an area that you’ve never visited before?)

No it’s not, it’s like the option keeps switching itself back to WiFi only. I had this happen before a few times but once I closed the app and reopen it, the switch would be off. Now it keeps switching back to WiFi only.

So after typing that I went back to check and it is now switched off. There is some bug present though because at some point, I’m guessing an update, the option defaults back to WiFi only. Most people probably keep it on WiFi only to save data I would guess.

Maybe it has to do with signal level or something.

On my iPhone running the beta-version, when I tape Download Always, Scenic sets the WiFi-only setting in Finetuning. If I select Cancel, the WiFi-only setting does not turn on.

I have not used the beta version in a few weeks but this could be the problem.
