Routing type preference

Where are controls for route type located in v4?

I usually simply scroll the map and never use any preplan.

The little button above the "plan" button in the main/start screen. It will display an icon of a vehicle (probably a car or a motorcycle, depending on your last selected routing mode).

The new maps are tops. Level of detail, topo, rivers, RR, etc are great to have. I’ve been navigating quite well by memory using those bits of info for six decades now. Can’t even possibly conceive of the idea of a robot telling me when and where to turn… yikes!!
