Routing problems

Guido,

Here is an example of routing problems in San Diego County. Have similar things in other parts of California as well - including on Hwy 1 - a rather famous road.

Here is the example in San Diego:

On some roads, the routing algorithm refuses to follow a road and forces a u-turn and a detour - often on not even viable roads. Sometimes it can be fixed with a few extra vias but in these two cases, it will refuse to follow the road, even if two vias are within 20m (as in meters) or less of each other. Check out 7 & 8 and 9 & 10. I have ridden these before and Scenic will even show the prior rides as green lines as an overlay.

Hi Oliver,

This sounds like a map error. I can’t really do anything about this myself I’m afraid.

You can report these directly to HERE though. It’s relatively easy and built in to Scenic and HERE really processes these reports.

Thank you for letting me know.

The maps are actually right in this case. When riding through it last week, I did find old gates - that just happen to be open all the time.
