Rout Planning On Computer or Laptop
Quote from PCortes on 06.06.2024, 09:50Hi Guido, great app. I've been using it for years and love the latest upgrade. Forgive me if this has been asked before, I couldn't find it using the search function.
Are there any plans to develop a route planning feature on the web app such that you can design your routes on a desktop or laptop instead of having to do it on the small iPad or iPhone screen? I know that you can design routes on Google Maps and then import the route to Scenic, but Google Maps limits how many waypoints you have. If I ask Google Maps for a route from point A to point B and point B is far away (300 or 400 miles for example) I sometimes can't finish the whole route because I use up all of my waypoints when I redirect the Google Maps generated route to go off on the backroads. Sometimes I will import as much as I can from Google Maps to Scenic and then manually finish out the route on Scenic on my iPad or iPhone, but it would be so much more convenient to be able to design the route on a computer screen in the Scenic environment and then just have it automatically be added to your route list on your phone or tablet.
Thanks again for a great app!
Pablo

Yes, there are plans, but will be for later this year / beginning next year.
In Google Maps indeed the number of stops in the left panel is limited, but did you know you can also shape your route by simply "dragging" it? "Drag points" become vias in Scenic and stops in the left panel on Google Maps, become stops in Scenic.
Hope that helps.
Best regards,
Guido

Quote from PCortes on 06.06.2024, 10:02Hi Guido, thanks for the lightning fast response! Yes, you can drag the route but I've discovered that doing that creates "invisible" waypoints such that Google Maps won't allow you to modify the route any further after a certain point by dragging it or using waypoints/stops. Thank you though and I look forward to the next best thing in Scenic!

I’m with you guys on this one👍 I’d love to use Scenic on my Mac with a big screen😃
At the moment I use an iPad to do some tours as this is also quite big, and then because I have an account with Scenic, I don’t even have to send it my iPhone all I have to do is wait a couple of seconds until all is in sync! Great stuff.
I’m sure Guido will do the same great job when he has the time, with a Web App.
Meanwhile, have some great rides.
Gruss Mel

Doesn’t matter I have patience, I can wait😁
We‘ll see who’s first, me getting a new Mac or you making a Web App😉

It's not easy trying to plan a detailed route on a 4" screen!
Great app Guido - thanks for all you do!
