Round trip can be selected from CarPlay but cannot be started

I planned a round trip on my iPad yesterday. I wanted to drive it today. All via CarPlay. The route was selectable via Scenic in CarPlay, I could also start it but nothing happened. On the CarPlay display I saw the map but not my current location, no arrow, no line, no navigation instructions. I was able to cancel the route. After several unsuccessful attempts, including with other pre-planned routes, I started the route on my phone. Then it ran smoothly on CarPlay. Is this known? Is it intended? Is it a bug?

Hi Burkhard,

This is not a known problem. Especially since it did not work with any of the routes, and you did not see your current position indicator, it makes me assume that something was wrong with the GPS updates that Scenic was receiving. Could you try starting a tracking session on your iPhone (tap the "start ride" button)  (without being connected to CarPlay) and then stop that immediately. That should update your last know location in Scenic.

Also check if you are on the latest version of Scenic, which is 3.63. You can see version number at the bottom of settings. If you're not running that version, update through the app store: https://apps.apple.com/app/id1089668246

Thanks for your answer! Regarding your comment. I just started Scenic on my iPhone without a connection to CarPlay. Then I started and stopped a journey. The navigation arrow was at my home, i.e. where I am. So everything is fine.

It could well be that my iPhone did not transmit my current position to CarPlay yesterday because I had not used the phone with Scenic before connecting it to CarPlay. After I started the route on my iPhone yesterday, everything worked correctly on CarPlay too.

The current Scenic (3.63) version is/was installed on my iPhone.

I'll be happy to let you know. I can test it again later. Is there anything I should look at more closely that will help you with the analysis?

Nothing really in particular. My assumption now is that, since the phone was not used for a while, it needs to get a GPS lock again. This can take a while sometimes.
