Roadblock use/behaviour and loss of guidance
Quote from Atticuscat on 10.07.2025, 10:31Hi,
Today, while following a route I had to detour around a closed road so I tried the ‘Road Block’ button. I got no rerouting and no guidance from that point on. The screenshot shows the affected area, I had just passed via 10 and could not turn right as I had wished. I turned left, pulled in a few metres up the road and tried the Road Block option, identified the affected bits of road when prompted (yes, I did that badly, it’s tricky being accurate on a phone screen with gloves on) highlighting the section with the next via point (11) that I couldn’t reach because of the closure. My expectation was to be routed around the blockage and back onto the planned route. I don’t know if I didn’t fully complete the ‘road block’ procedure or if there’s a bug but I wasn’t prompted to do anything else after highlighting the closure area. Without routing I made my own way out of the area and back onto the planned route but route instructions (visual and voice) didn’t resume. The screenshot was taken after I’d moved away from the area, realised routing wasn’t happening and I’d found a safe place to stop.
After realising the routing instructions were no more I continued to follow the purple route line hoping all would resume after passing the next via point. No joy. So I tried to edit the route to add in a via point between myself (on the planned route, that was showing on the map) and the next via point and got the error message “Route Calculation Error No route could be found between the waypoints.” So I stopped the route (being offered, and taking, the opportunity to save the ride) and restarted the route again, removing the start and all vias prior to my current point on the route and I could continue with visual and audio guidance as normal.
I think I’ve only tried to use the road block feature once before and I can’t remember how, or if, it worked. It’s such an I frequently used feature (for me at least) that there’s no way I’m going to remember an involved process to make it work (if, indeed, there is one) without hand-holding guidance from the app.
So I guess my question is, how do I use the road block feature correctly if I haven’t done so or is this a bug?
