Reroute at detour not working

Hi Guido,

When I am following a route (imported or self made) and there is a detour the app does not skip the next via point and keeps on leading me back to the original route and back to the via I missed. But sometimes there is a roadblock and I cannot go that way.

The settings at 'detour behavior' are:
Recalculate at detour > on
Self correcting > on
Skip via's automatically > on

I am also a premium member.

What am I doing wrong?

Regards

Ed

Hi Ed,

I'd have to see the route and know what your skip distance (bottom of Detour Behaviour) is set to.

Without seeing this, I'm guessing. But could it be that the next via point was further away from the point where you detoured than the skip distance? If so, then this is expected behaviour. Scenic will auto-correct once you get back on route further along the route. Then it will assume you skipped the via on purpose.

However.. there are two better ways to deal with these kind of situations:

  1. The road block button - This will mark the road for a certain distance (it will ask you for how long the road is blocked) and guide you around it
  2. Skip Via/Stop - This is for when you already deviated and it keeps sending you to the via - When you tap this button it will 'remove' the first unreached via from the route, and recalculate to guide you to the next via. If there are more vias in the blocked stretch, you can tap this button multiple times.

Hope this helps/explains. If not or if you have other questions please let me know. Happy to help.

Best regards and ride safe,
Guido

Hi Guido,

The skip distance was set to 2,5km but I changed it now to 15km so this was probably the cause of the problem.
The other two options should work as well, I will try that next time.

Thanks and enjoy in Mexico

Watch out with this skip distance. Sometimes Scenic will think you detoured even if you did not… (due to inaccuracies in map and gps signal). In those cases via points will be removed and your route might become different. Honestly, me personally, I just use the manual options to prevent this.

Auto-skip via points is a tricky setting. To be honest, for almost all situations I recommend to leave this to OFF, as it can change your route dramatically when you detour. This is because it can remove a bunch of via points (within the skip distance radius from your current location when you detour) and recalculate the route without those via points, leading to the route taking completely different roads.

What I recommend is to turn 'Auto-Skip' via points OFF, and then, if need be, manually skip a via point through the 'Skip Via/Stop' button in the navigation menu.
