Request a way to log map error for later reporting
Quote from Darktux on 22.10.2023, 15:34Hi Guido,
as ever thanks for the great app.
Since the move to Here maps I have noticed a lot of junction priority errors on the UK map, these seem to be on the underlying map, but by the time I finish the ride I rarely remember exactly which junction needs reporting.
I have read the forum posts on reporting map errors directly to Here maps & have seen the suggestion of using the “quick pic” feature to place a marker on the current trip record, but this doesn’t link to the “report a map error” feature.
Could you consider an option to have a button similar to the “quick pic” that displays on the route map & records the current location (with a single press) to a list that can later be viewed as a reminder as part of the error reporting screen (ie after the ride).
This will let riders keep a record of map errors without needing to pause their journey.
Thanks KB

Just wondering: what is a junction priority error?

OK. I will add this to the feature request list.
Quote from Darktux on 23.10.2023, 09:32The Junction Priority error that I keep finding on Here maps in the UK is where I find a junction that the map shows through priority on the wrong road & a give way/stop on the wrong road, for instance think of a crossroad junction like a plus symbol + if I am riding left to right & the map says I must stop because the vertical road has through priority, but in reality it is the left right road that has through priority & the 2 vertical roads have to stop.
Similarly I frequently find acute angled T junctions (think a letter y ) which Here maps show as priority on the long edge (right hand top stub to tail), but in reality it is the (left hand) joining stub that is the through road , so the give way/stop is shown on the wrong part of the junction.
Does this make sense, let me know if not & I can add a drawing.
I suspect the problem is caused by the junction not being clear on a satalite image, so the the wrong assumption is made when drawing the map.

It's not so much that Scenic shows this, as much as sometimes Scenic says the next junction is x miles away & the road I am riding immediately in front of me is clearly marked as a stop or give way.
Generally Scenic shows all junctions on a route & when it doesn't I assume that it is because it thinks the direction I am travelling is the through route, I initially tested this by deliberately taking a different (wrong) exit at the junction & when Scenic re-routed me back it now showed a stop junction where there was none on the actual main road.
Thanks KB

Quote from Guido on 23.10.2023, 12:18OK. I understand now. Thanks for the explanation. This indeed sounds like a map issue.
I took a look at the map-error reporting possibilities. There is no way to report these issues, other than just leaving a free text comment.Could you perhaps send me the coordinates of one of the junctions where this happened? I want to check if this is still an issue in the big update that I'm working on. This update uses the new HERE map framework, so there might be some differences there.
To get the coordinates of a location in Scenic, activate "Settings > Finetuning > Coordinates in callout bubble". The, if the bubble appears, you can tap on the coordinates to copy them to the clipboard.
